Every time I see "Emprah" I think of Oprah in a toga.
So, who would we cast in a "Whose Mind Is It Anyway" movie? It seems like this would translate really well into flickness.
I'm thinking Dennis Leary* as Sean and Carol Kane as Sophie.
*not Miller.

During her childhood, Suzanne Vega once had a girl walk up to her ready to fight and say, "Sally sez you called me a hora". Vega was confused and the girl decided Sally was a liar and left.
Much later, Vega realized that if the girl had said "ho", then she would have understood the question, and gotten beat up.

I notice the background has gotten darker. a nice touch.
which got me thinking... using background effects isn't considered much in webcomics. you put your Jpegs and Gifs on a page, get a tiled wallpaper that doesn't clash with the colors, and that's it. you can't do a whole lot with a background, but you can add in subtle effects. I remember a few Leisuretown comics that used backgrounds in interesting ways, such as sound effects. ah well I'm rambling here.

Hmm...wrong Dennis, I'd say. Beantown native Dennis Leary seems like the obvious choice.Chronosome wrote:I'm thinking Dennis Miller as Sean and Carol Kane as Sophie.
Speaking of movies...
"I like the way you twok."
"...I like the way you tahk, too."
Intentional or unintentional reference to Sling Blade?

I had to write
Who's mind is it anyway is one of my favourite MI's yet, but I don't like the format with the page-flipping. I guess.
really nit-picky detail time!
<img src=http://www.scottmccloud.com/comics/mi/mi-25/zz-p1.jpg>
this panel on page 6 needs a left border
just noticed that now. oh wait, spotted another one...
the bottom of page 7, where the word balloons are connected between the panels (second line from bottom), the first panel needs to be a pixel wider. right now it leaves a tiny gap between it and the connecting "bridge." really small, but it's noticable.

I miss Leisuretown. The internet truly is poorer off without it.Haze wrote: I remember a few Leisuretown comics that used backgrounds in interesting ways, such as sound effects. ah well I'm rambling here.

With his family, not his characters, I'm sure.
How would you guys like to see this end? Tomorrow morning, Sean knocking on the door and Sophie answering? Shall they stroll off into the sunset pushing one shopping cart between them? Sit down in the park and start reading? Shall we list a bunch and then demand that Scott McCloud surprise us with something we haven't mentioned just to cramp his creativity?

Everything which comes into my mind(s?) is much longer than just a few panels. I'd wish them that they meet again and find some way to improve their lives. This means that they must deal somehow with the other two minds - which needs time.gareis wrote: How would you guys like to see this end?
Up to now, only one mind of each have met. The other two have only been observers, but they also need to know each other. The discussion between the four may well take as much time as we have seen up to now.
I hope that Scott will not force an end but take as much time as the story needs.

Not intending to open a can of worms here, but do they necessarily need to be "fixed" to become more "normal" in order to find happiness?

i think you got that wrong. pege wants to say, they have to deal with the others second mind. they need to get along with both minds of their potential partner and not only with one of them.although the guy seems to have a rather bad 2nd mind whereas the girl has a more supportive one. (sorry for not remembering the names.)Penner Theologius Pott wrote:Er, does it?pege wrote:Everything which comes into my mind(s?) is much longer than just a few panels. Why does Sean need a parker? He could just huddle for warmth with his other personality .
I still want to know what's in that shopping-cart. And I still think the good Padre looks like an unshaved Scott.
Oh, and Neil Gaiman's favorite, Heliogabolus, was a sick littlle bastid, also.
Besides, everyone knows the proper way to pronounce "whore" is hoowah

No one beats his successor, Caligula, who turned to the Imperial Place into a brothel in order to raise money.Ninus Pritaeus wrote:Ah, Tiberius, hiding out on the Isle of Capreae, swimming in a pool with young, naked girls and boys. First in a long line of Imperial pervs.

Hmmm, maybe Sally thought Susan was a Jewish dance, done at weddings and Bar Mitzvahs. Everybody, join hands, and circle.GlenSS wrote:During her childhood, Suzanne Vega once had a girl walk up to her ready to fight and say, "Sally sez you called me a hora". Gee, thanks for putting that horendous image in my brain. Do they make bed sheets that big?Chronosome wrote:Every time I see "Emprah" I think of Oprah in a toga.
I'm not sure. I mean I haven't seen Sean smoke one cigarette. Of coure, if cigarette taxes are as ludicrously high in Boston as they are here in NYC, then he probably can't afford a pack. Then again, he can always find a half-smoked butt on the street. (yecch!)Chronosome wrote:I'm thinking Dennis Leary as Sean

And then there was THE MINDS OF BILLY MILLIGAN, by Daniel Keyes of FLOWERS FOR ALGERNON fame, a true story about a multiple personality person who raped a girl---but the personality who did so was one of his FEMALE personalities---who was a lesbian.Parke Matru wrote:I suddenly remember a legal case I read about a while back where a guy with multiple personality disorder was charged with raping a girl with multiple personality disorder, and his defense was that they each had one personality consenting at the time . . .
Or that's what Billy Milligan said, anyway.---Al

Yeah, that's the first thing I noticed, as well.
The person in the red jacket is walking in the street though. He could get hit by a car. Then again, I don't see any cars in the street. 'S'matta, nobody drives in Boston when it starts to snow?
Me, I never cross the street when I see some crazy homless guy. I just walk right past them. Don't bother me none. No whacked-out vagrant muttering to himself is going to make me alter my course. In my town, I'd have to cross the street every other minute, if that was the case. Plus, I might get run over, especially the way the cabbies drive.
Speaking of Boston, the war begins tomorrow night at Fenway. Prime time, national TV, baby. Turn down the sound so you don't have to hear Tim McCarver prattle on like a moron. 1918!

at first I thought the ending was abrupt, but I went back and read the whole thing from the beginning and realized it wasn't as long as I thought. so I changed my mind and I think the ending works pretty well.
a really charming and well done comic. it's the kind of story where if Scott ever decides to print it on paper and sell it, I'd buy a copy. if not, I'll just have to throw more pennies at the next round of MI title voting! :)
