Writer looking for an Artist

Post by Sabotaged »

I'm here obviously looking for an artist, I'm trying to get published but it's exceedingly difficult attempting to do so with just a script. So I'm wanting to find someone to work with on one or more of the projects I have underway, we'll be trying for submissions to publishers but if we're unsuccessful then I would like to take self publishing as an option, so anyone with any experience in the field would be great (though it's not necessary). I'd prefer someone based in Glasgow, Scotland like myself, the UK at least, but again it's not completely necessary just prefferable. I'd like to find someone for a long term working partnership so if you end up wanting to work with me and vice versa then I'd be happy to work on some of your own ideas, if you have any, that are in need of a writer, or we create something entirely new together.

As I've said I've got a couple of different projects so different styles are all welcome, and if there's one idea you're not keen on working on then perhaps I have another for you. There are a couple of original graphic novel projects and at this point one longer running series.

In terms of what to email just give me your name, a bit about yourself, your style/influences, the kind of projects you prefer to work on (eg. genre) and samples/links of your work. Then from there if I feel we would work discussions would begin over the projects and which, if any, you are interested in.

This is a not a paying job, I am looking for a working partnership just incase you've not picked up on this yet.

my email: big_nicky@msn.com

A brief bit about the projects so you know whether you're interested in them before emailing me.

"State of Nature" takes place in a city moments after a disaster and follows the journey of Carrick Lydell, a man who has lost all faith in humanity (long before the most recent incident occurred), yet he is almost driven by guilt to help them, knowing that he is the only one that can possibly bring the city and its people back form the brink, as well as by his new found survival "companion" Kate Rose. Carrick struggles with his past and his inner demons, both figurative and literal, as we uncover more about him and his mysterious abilities. This would be an ongoing series tallying roughly 40 issues.

"The Masterpiece" follows 2 police detectives, one a recent sudden transfer, in a small quiet town. They mostly deal with nieghbourly disputes, cats stuck in trees and the local town celebrity, who has been recieving some disturbing fan mail as of late, that is until the town is struck by its very first murder. Things only escalate from there with a spate of murders now occuring, as well as dealing with whether the local celebrity is being stalked or is just starved for attention, trying to keep a nosy reporter at bay and uncovering the past of the recently transferred detective things all get a bit too noisy in this normally quiet town. "The Masterpiece" is an original graphic novel of 8 Chapters in length.

In "The Power of Nightmares" Cheska Meszaros is a girl who was born into the world accused by her father of murdering her mother. Complications during birth led to the mother's death and her father has never forgiven the child and so subjects her to an abusive life. Cheska is able to break free from her father but by that point has lost all hope, believing the world to be nothing but a cruel a violent place this is how she chooses to live out the rest of her life. She drifts from underground fighting to running with a gang, before being "recruited" by a shady, yet powerful, company called the Kinsilver Corporation. There she is part of a hit squad before being specially selected for a new experimental trial, which allows her to enter the dreams of people. With this new ability she is able to become the greatest assassin that ever lived, but even in the realms of dreams the world still appears a violent place to her, that is until she is supposed to kill Dr. Rana Mireya to prevent her from releasing her new findings. In her dreams she sees the world Dr. Mireya sees it; a beautiful place filled with hope, as she spends more time with Rana living in her world she falls in love with her and decides not to go through with her mission, it is with this decision that she realises she's going to have to fight back against Kinsilver who will be coming after her. This is an original graphic novel 8-10 chapters in length.

"Primal" tells the story of an aimless traveller, Rune Fenris, who wanders into the wrong town. Straight away he feels unwelcomed and unwanted, people avoid him and give him weird looks, he does manage to befriend one man who tells him that the town is not fond on outsiders. When he eventually does try to leave he is prevented form doing so by the town gaurd, a man who had practically told him to leave before, it seems there is more to this town than anyone is letting on and that certainly seems to be the case when Rune notices strange things going on such as whole streets disappearing. Rune wants to discover the truth behind the town and find out what's really going on. "Primal" is an original graphic novel roughly 6 chapters long.
