Artist offering free 1 page sample of your script.

Hi everyone,

I am an artist looking for a writer to collaborate with, no money up front and a 50:50 back end.

My offer is: if I like your story, I will do a one page sample for free.

[PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY]
Send me a private message with a very brief summary of your project. Just the broad strokes. For example: it’s about dinosaurs escaping from their zoo [Jurassic Park], or a pair of supernatural detectives [X-Files] or a girl who murders two sisters over a pair of shoes [Wizard of Oz].

I’d love to know:
[1] Title: the title of your comic.
[2] Summary: what it’s about, no more than a paragraph.
[3] Length: how long its likely to be; a one shot, a 3 issue mini series, an indefinite series etc.
[4] Arc: how much have you written, have you plotted a beginning, middle and end?
[5] Expectations: your expectations of me and the project, where you see it going etc.
[6] Background: Feel free to tell me about yourself, where you’re from, if you’ve done this before.
[7] Questions: Ask me anything.

If this sounds like more hassle than it’s worth then I apologise. Eastman and Laird both came up with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, one of the most original and profitable properties of all time and still got sued by countless weirdos. There are trust and copyright issues and it is just common sense to be careful, when you ask for unsolicited ideas. Hopefully this makes sense. If you have your own conditions regarding your material, please let me know in advance of sending them and I will be as accommodating as possible.

If I like your idea, then I draw a sample page of your choice.

If you like my sample page, then we have a serious chat.

If you don’t like my sample page, I weep, wail, stuff my face with chocolate, watch sad movies by a log fire for a couple of evenings, stick pins in your effigy, burn all our photos, then move on.

I am a good artist, and this is a genuine offer. If you are building anything it won’t be fast, cheap and good, you only ever get 2 out of 3. In this case it will be cheap and good but it won’t be fast.

I am not fussed about money, I just want to get better and build my portfolio. If I like your story, and you pair up with me, you will get your comic page and we can correspond daily about the details of the project.

I am between jobs at present, but hope to be able to give you my full efforts and despite my situation, I have no desire to be a timewaster. If the project is not possible for me, I will let you know.

I want to do something original. It would be fair to say there are already plenty of superhero comics out there and I’d like to do something else. It can be as esoteric and verbose as you want.

I am very patient, and committed to detailed, realistic artwork. I enjoy Frank Quitely's attention to detail, Alex Ross's realism and Mike Mignola's minimalism. I have high standards for myself and I would like to be known for producing top quality work.

I will give you my time and best effort.
