Writer looking for team. Artist, cowriter, ect.

Post by Kagaenod »

I am a seasoned writer who has worked on comics in the past, notably a comic I am hoping to publish called David and the Dark. I have also worked on several comics posted on www.artificialcomix.com (Most of the comics were based on my scripts, including Iraqi Lover and My Headache), as well as a superhero comic that can be found at http://supercosmic212.blogspot.com/

I have a previously posted a comic idea recently, but I decided that this comic idea deserved a second post.

The comic, currently working titled the Adventures of Amelia Earhart, chronicles the famous persona who, after her last recorded flight, crash lands. Her navigator is missing when she comes to, with a mysterious letter in his place, saying "Meet me in Japan" which is obviously in his handwriting. She finds herself in what appears to be Ancient Rome, but later discovers that she is in a reality where many of the worlds major events occur at the same time. The height of the Roman empire, a combination WW1 and WW2, as well as the American Revolution, the Civil War, the Vietnam War, Gandi's fight against England and European Colonization, notably the invasion of Indian lands by the Spanish, the Cold war, the rise of communism, and even the advent of Christianity and the rise and fall of Jesus Christ (The predominant religion at this time in Europe is Judiasm, not Chrisitinaty, and Hitler is pursecuting the newly formed Christian religion, not the Jews [he himself is Jewish]). Amelia traverses the globe, with her final destination as Japan to find her navigator and to find the answer to the mysterious message, as well as others she finds along the way that point to Japan, which at this point in history is an undiscovered country. She meets various historical figures along the way as well. The general technology being used is Civil War era, with the combustion engine being invented as well as flight. (The only reason Ancient Rome still exists in its classical form is due to bullet stopping bodyarmor and swords that can slice through a tank, which their opposition cannot duplicate). Common themes in the comic include feminism (As many of the regions she navigates don't see women as equals) war, and the racial equality and the freeing of the slaves (Amelia does encounter Spartacus the leader of the slave revolution in Rome, Marin Luther King, and experiences the repression of the Native Americans). Many of the figures Amelia recognizes, others she does not (Though the reader will of course). The comic has a dramatic tone to it, but also a bizarre, Alice and Wonderland theme, as the fact that all these amazing events are going on at once is somewhat bizarre and Amelia does point that out on several occasions.

I would love an Artist to work on me on this project, I can deal with an artist doing all the drawing to a penciller, inker, letterist, possibly colorist team as well. I would love a writer to work with me in particular, preferably someone who has a love of history and a pretty good grasp on it to assist in my research and plotting. I am also looking for, if not a writer per-say, a historical consultant. I could also use a writer with a comedic touch, as I'm sure there's much humor to be found in this bizarre situation Amelia Earhart finds herself in, especially since many of the historical figures portrayed will be shown as if a particular actor were playing them (John Wayne for a cowboy, Johnny Depp for a pirate, and Kirk Douglass for Spartacus, though I'm not sure if we can use their likenesses, even for parody. I have a general outline of the arc of the story completed, it's just the specifics I need to work out.

Sincerely,
Robert Finch

P.S. You can reach me at robert-finch@comcast.net

P.S.S. I can pay. I'd prefer not to, I have a limited budget and can only pay up to $80 dollars a page, and even that's stretching it. But if you absolutely can't work without pay, I'll pay. I understand that many artists out there have a very limited amount of time to work on their projects and need money to recoup for time spent, have money issues, or just can't feel motivated without some sort of monetary gain. Whatever your reason, I can pay if need be. I do intend to send this project out to publishers once we have a good sized book finished though.

Still looking

So far many artists and writers have applied so far. I'm pretty much set on the colorist as well as the letterist, but the Artist and Writer spots are still open. I have a couple applicants for both positions that I am strongly considering, but if you are a writer or artist you will still have a fair chance. Thank you to all who have applied.

Sincerely,
Robert Finch

P.S. As a response to the last reply, I have included in the main text that I am willing to pay, although I'm not happy about the idea, I do understand that artists need money and although I am on a budget of 80 dollars every two weeks I can supply that money. Of course, bonus points go to artists who have a low or no cost, although an artist with the right style and necessary quality is always the priority. I am also unable to pay co-writers, since most of my budget is going to an artist if they so require it.

Artist found! Writer wanted!

Post by Kagaenod »

Okay, it came down to a heated battle but the artist for "The Adventures of Amelia Earhart" has finally been chosen! Now all I need is a co-writer. All you guys with writing talent out there willing to give this project a shot, write me up at robert-finch@comcast.net. I'll certainly be waiting for you ready to read your samples.

Sincerely,
Robert Finch

Done and done

Okay, after finding a research consultant have decided that I no longer need a co-writer, enough pressure has been taken off me so that I can easily tackle the writing duties on my own. I thank you so much to all the artists and writers who have applied as well to the one history consultant that I accepted. I know that this topic is way old at this point, but I thought it was okay to bump it up one last time to show my appreciation
