San Diego Artist looking for a writer.

Post by Jason Luper »

Hello Writers! I want a comic to draw for. Preferably Sci-Fi but open to any story that I can get excited about. I'm FREE! Woohoo! This would be a side project/hobby from my regular professional work. I would like the practice with sequential artwork. I am a professional Artist/Illustrator and my work can be seen here:

www.starkwhitestudios.com

I do not have experience with comics or graphic novels. I would like to create the visuals for one to see if it is something I might want to pursue as well as just having fun making a comic in general.

So, the Pro's are "professional artist, free"

Cons are: "No Comic/ Sequential work experience"

If your in San Diego so much the better, I would like to meet and discuss the project. Thanks everyone :)

Hi Jason!

If you're okay with a writer on the other side of the country, I've been working on a action/comedy sci-fi story that I'd love to try in comic form. I've done fiction writing before, but never specifically for the sequential medium, so we're in pretty similar situations. This project is also sort of an off-time/hobby deal for me, but I've been putting most of my creative juices into it the past few months and I'm dedicated to release it in some form.

You can contact me at bryce@ll-dd.co or @brycas on Twitter. Thanks for the consideration!

Hey Jason...I'm in Phoenix myself...but I'm interested in working with you. I'm an experienced scriptwriter and other mediums writer, including poetry and children's short story writing...but comic books are my passion.

Samples of my work are here on my fan page on Facebook... https://www.facebook.com/mjschwab19

I'm getting everything up there slowly, so it's not complete...

Wow, I am overwhelmed with responses. I will read them all but of course I only have time to illustrate one story. Thank you all for your responses though, I will try to reply to as many of them as I can. :)

Hi Jason

Could you Email me so that I may send you some scripts so that you may look at my work and decide for yourself if you would like to work together. I am currently working on several scripts. I write fast and I am a great communicator, I have 3 projects being created at the moment with other artists, I have a childrens book going into publication and I have a contract from another American comic publishers distributing a western for me. I could tell you more but I would rather my writing speak for itself. I can also guide you with what I want in regards to the sequential artowrk as I have experience with working with artists.

Thanks and hope to hear from you soon,

Great work by the way.

Very cool work. My artist I had lined up had to back out, now I need a new brave artist for my epic that is "The Fabulous F&*#'n Adventures of Pie-U and Ninjackoff!"

It's about some slacker type guys who get "stupid powers". Pie-U, wit the ability to create pies out of thin air, and Ninjackoff, with the power to teleport but only when he is aroused.

I have my ROUGH draft of the first issue drawn out to the best of my terrible abilities on my flicker account here

I am already halfway through the second issue and it's just going to get better and better. It's a project I have already spent years thinking about and working out the details for, and that will be continued on for at least 3 years before the full story gets told (and it could go on for years more too even),

Anyway, it's a project that starts out ridiculous, gets even more ridiculous, and somehow will also end up seeming realistic and believable by the end (relatively speaking anyway). Alright, peace. Contact me at twotontongue@yahoo.com if you want to know more.

Hey, I live in San Diego and I am working on a story myself. Was going to do the art and write it out on my own but that will probably take me forever. I am currently plotting out the first issue but I already have an idea of how it would progress. It's a superhero/sci-fi story line. PM me and I'll give some more details.

I think that we would be an ideal team :)

Hey

I really like your artwork, so please take a few minutes to read my proposal; I am sure it will be interesting both from a financial and artistic aspect.

I am an experienced AUTHOR seeking a dedicated ARTIST for a comic-book project.

I’m looking for an artist who is willing to try and bring a project to life; one that I have been working on for some time now. I have some publishing connections at my university, and if something good comes out of our cooperation, I am willing to give all the profits to the artist. I am not interested in money, I just want to see my idea come to life.

About me: -I am a Ph.D. student of political science, and as such I have written a lot of academic work. But writing fiction has always been more than a hobby to me. I have taken classes (at my university) on how to write a successful comic-book script, in order to turn my developed story into comic-book form.

About the project: -The project is serious and aimed towards a mature audience. The plan is to develop a successful comic-book series. It would revolve around the main character’s regression to his past lives. I will give you more details once we get into the discussion, but for now, here is a rough outline of the overall idea (which takes the juice out of it, though.)
-The main character will have to face the horrors of his past lives by stepping into a sort of a past-life regression machine. He will do this as a part of deal he made with a mysterious older businessman who calls himself ‘the alchemist’. The deal was for the main character to go through this process of past life regression in order for ‘the alchemist’ (a rich, powerful and mysterious man)to clear his (main character’s) name of a serious crime that was attributed to him, but which he did not do. It is not clear to the main character why he is being asked to go through the process of past-life regression, but it is obvious that the archeologist is very interested in the main character’s past lives. After experiencing the horrors he has done to other people in the past, as well as the horrors that have been done to him, the main character starts to question the meaning of existence, and starts to question his morality. Was it him who had done all those horrible things in his past lives? Does it make him an evil person? What is the meaning of this life if he will simply come back again?

What is expected of the artist: -The artist is expected to draw relatively well. I am ready to work on the story with the artist and more than willing to hear his ideas regarding how the panels should be set up. The artist will have a lot of freedom to be creative, as I will not have strict guidelines on how the drawings in the panels should look. You’re the expert, make it look good by using your own style.
-However, there is one small request that I have. I would like the comic to have a silverfish gray tone, with red being the only other color. Red will be used to express emotion, color blood (of which there will be plenty) and achieve other similar artistic goals. (However, I am even willing to discuss this requirement.)

Contact: If you are interested in discussing the project to further detail, or if you want to start working with me right away, please write to me at jovica.blogger89@gmail.com . I check my email at least once in every 3 days.
