The next big series needs penciler/inker!

Post by CharlieKilo »

I'm looking for an artist who wants to work on an action/comedy series (Think Chew). I'm currently in the middle of writing the first issue, and what I'm looking to do is make the first 4 pages plus a cover and send it in to a company like Image.
If accepted, I'm more than happy to split everything 50/50. And with only 5 pages, even if we're not accepted, you haven't wasted nearly as much time as some people might ask for.
If you want to take a look at the script, I'd be happy to show you, all I ask is to see some of your sample work in return.

Each company has different guidelines for submissions so i'd definitely read them as Image ask for 5 pages of comic plus cover but Dark Horse want 8, some want full series synopsis in sequence others like Image say that if you can sell your story in a paragraph or two then do it.

Just trying to help out.

5 pages plus a cover is all I'm asking for then. I can easily come up with my end on all of the submission, art is the tough part.

ok CK, school is in session, so the potential recruits are centrally-located enough, to be accessible to you.

Letterer here if you need one "4 Free" limited time only. I wouldn't suggest using high school or college students as many of them are preoccupied with school and do not comprehended "work ethic."

You may post an AD here at freelanced.com and with a little smooth talk and unfortunately no alcohol... you may get lucky.

if a writer wants to get an artist, without the high price tag, then H.S.'s and colleges are their best recourse, because they live in the same location, and therefore, can be able to check up on an artist's progress in a more personal, efficient manner. get it now, Darkersho?

...I am a professional artist and writer. DB. What are YOU?

That's not true at all. Here's the deal, a writer may spend months, years, decades devoting his/her time to the development of a single project. And all for what?

Nothing, zero pay.

Regardless of their being a "student" or working a full time job, or being a bum. A high school student or college student is no more inclined to tackle a big comic book project than some average person with no artistic ability off the street.

Not only that but seasoned artists posses other skills that a High School student or College Student in all probability hasn't honed yet. Such as, Lettering, Coloring, etc. Umm, skills I might add-- that a publisher such as Image might take into consideration when hiring the TEAM for the proposed project. (That's how it works, they want the whole package. They don't want a high school student that cannot commit to producing a comic every month and sticking to deadlines) <---- super-mega secret don't tell anyone. Would you go into business with a high school student? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Well, you might obviously.

What this person is trying to achieve is a partnership. Writer/Creator and Artist. Nobody is paid... you both work towards the same goal. That goal?

Creating a product, a franchise that Image or another publisher will print and then and ONLY then should PAY be discussed. I don't know what it is with people like you. You want the big boy bucks but you're in the minors, just like all the rest of us.

There are a million talented artists out there. And they are hungrier and willing to work for free because maybe, just maybe they'll land a gig in the big leagues and live the dream. That's what it takes.

DO YOU GET IT NOW!? COULD YOU POSSIBLY DROP YOUR SILLY BRASH ATTITUDE AND COMPREHEND THAT CONCEPT FOR TWO FLEETING SECONDS?

Take notes.

Your single-serving suggestion that he should creepily stalk art students is mild at best, unoriginal and I'm fairly certain any person with half a nugget of brain activity could devise your master scheme in a fraction of a second.

So, thank you Captain-O. I think we've got this one, you've made your mute point. You've been rude and obtrusive. Now kindly go away and take your bitter-negativity-cloud-of-doom following you around, with you.

If you've nothing positive or constructive to add to this topic, stop weighing it down. We are trying to rise ABOVE the clouds... not hover amidst the smog and depressing self pity plane you inhabit.

Or better yet... if you don't like the post-- IGNORE IT.

DO YOU GET IT NOW? HAVE I MADE MYSELF CLEAR AND LEGIBLE?

CK, don't listen to this hater. people like him, don't like it when someone is willing to work better and cheaper, so he/his ilk don't want you to know where to find those "cheap scabs", and put them off of their high-priced gravy train, that runs at the expense of other creatoras.

...I almost believed you had a valid point until you misspelled creators. And then I realized you were just mumbling incoherently again.

Hooray, a private message! I wonder who sent me mail?

go act like a catty, petty jealous bitch, somewhere else. this is a terrible economy, and wallet vampires like you, make projects more unattainable than usual."

Menstrual Monster, wow. You're so tough... guy. Comparing me to the holy monthly act that occurs in a woman's (and I assume your own Mother's) body that promotes fertility and facilitates LIFE... well, I'm honored. Thank you.

I make good money despite the "terrible economy" why aren't you? Couldn't possibly be your terrible attitude. I really despise those whom blame everyone including the "terrible economy" for their misfortunes.

Not an ounce of balls you've got, sir. Not a shred of $#%& given.

I apologize CharlieKilo for hijacking your post. That was not my intention. However I feel it is best to punish sycophant troll's whenever possible they're a horrible race and it's dirty work eliminating them. They want everything for free and often refuse to leave when they have no business being there in the first place.

Dude, you made ONE remedial suggestion and it wasn't that great. I veto you in this scenario as I speak from experience.

Answer my Private Message, tough guy.

CK, my suggestion was pretty much intended for you, or other creators willing to use that kind of accessible resource, so that'll be the last that i say on this thread.
