Comic Artist looking for work- part II

Post by Brcdealer »

Here's my portfolio: http://bensbeatlab.daportfolio.com/

Don't worry about the video game challenge that I alluded to earlier. I'm actually glad that no one can guess what game inspired my idea for a comic. I'm all alone in my own geekdom. It's an age gap thing.

I'm drunk again. I'm bumbed out because I literally have sent out about 150+ job applications online in the last 3 weeks. I keep getting gunned down. I am, however, happy to report that I have 2.2 leads. The best lead told me to wait until the first week of September. That was a week ago. He told me, "you definitely are in the running". That is a cool character design job for an ongoing rpg. That is a full time job in San Francisco. The next best lead was a response that I got from EA Sports in Redwood City. They told me that my portfolio has been set aside for further consideration for an associate concept artist position and to standby for further instructions. And then there is a long shot application that I put out 4 days ago. A video game company called Gaia put out a call for 2D artists for character design and that they only want applicants to mail in their apps. That company is located directly across the street from my work! I responded to the job within 10 hours of the job board post and I got to shake hands with 2 associates. I made them laugh.

Tell me I'm going to make it. Somebody. I don't have weekends off at my current purgatory job. Football is coming up and this year's doom is starting to set in for the winter...

Feel free to critique my portfolio. People say mean shit to me all day at my job, so I'm pretty sure I can handle a nasty truth or 2. Make my day...

You'll make it, just don't give up even if you don't yet. There are some people that start making it into the dream jobs around 40 or older. That means they just didn't give up.

And don't get drunk again, it only push you deeper. If you get bumbed out, draw more.

Draw draw draw, take a break, then draw some more.

You know I wanted to do a project collaboration with you, but the type of storyline you prefer and the one I usually write are too different. So I wish you the best of luck on getting your new gig.
