Writer looking for artist(s) for Apocalyptic Fantasy

Post by eadenoth »

I am new here; forgive me if I am pitching my request incorrectly.

I have been wracking my brain for about a year with an idea of starting an anime, but at this point my budget doesn't really support that at all. I am wanting to do a comic or graphic novel of sorts for sure, however.

I am, not to be too conceited, a damn good writer. By that I mean, I understand English at a level that helps me convey exactly what I'd like to. I am an avid fan of anime/manga, but also plenty, if not more so than, of science-fiction and fantasy. On the flip side, I have a fairly strong background in graphic design and graphic communications, but very limited artistic ability.

I'm looking for an artist or artists to collaborate with and produce a really cool, and pseduo-professional final product, the likes of which I'm not sure what it will turn into, and I am willing to exchange ideas and concepts openly.

GENERAL CONCEPT/ROOT OF STORY: Post-apocalyptic is cool. Survival is cool. The danger in these stories gets readers, watchers, viewers, players, et cetera involved in the idea that if the world ended, what would we do? Pop culture is riddled with things like The Hunger Games and The Walking Dead but none of that satiates what I want! Well, I love swords and sorcery, and fantasy, and I know there are some stories out there following an apocalyptic downfall or save-the-world kind of dilemma, but I want more. I want a tale of survival, almost similar to classics like Treasure Island or The Island of Dr. Moreau with the same attack and intricacy as Tolkien's tales or Erikson's Malazan. Even Stephen King's The Dark Tower doesn't completely satiate my thirst.

If you're familiar with the Dark Sun campaign setting in Dungeons and Dragons, I'm feeling something very close to that, however with much less magical interference, or at least less common, but more powerful magics. I have full details on a story, and am slowly piecing together a timeline for it, but I am holding back on a script until I have developed a team or found a partner. Character design is my next phase as well, so that the characters in this story are as dynamic as we are in life.

I am willing to pay for this project, but I am also looking to Kickstart it if it turns out to be what I hope it can be.

TLDR; I have a general synopsis for a story, and would like to work with artists to bring it to life. I sound like any other novice, clutz writer I've seen on this forum but I assure you I'm in it for the long run, and to make a professional and snazzy final product.

Feel free to contact me at ramsay5574@gmail.com if you are wanting to participate in this in any way and we can talk.

I'm super excited to hear from people. And if someone native to this forum would like to amend the way I went about this, please do, however I feel I did a decent job. Thanks!
