Fantasy comic needs writer/patreon page manager

Hey Potential Writer,

I'm a comic book artist, my name is Tim. My site is www.timsnotebook.com/comics

I have a 43 page fantasy comic penciled and many pages inked colored in serious need of re-writing.

What I propose is to have you as the writer, putting words in the balloons etc. and I letter and finish the pages. We set up a Patreon site where a new finished page gets uploaded every other week. Patreon is a crowdfunding 'tip jar' where people contribute money towards completing a project. In this case it would be a 150 page graphic novel.

You keep the first $100 raised for each page. A new page appears every other week. Anything over that we split evenly.

The Story:

Strega:

"Winsome smile or sword tip; both are effective weapons against this world of men."

That's pretty much the theme of Strega, it's the story of two sisters, one's a warrior type on the run who has magic spells, the other is and always has been desired by men, and uses her influence with them to gain power. Think Xena versus Paris Hilton, with a bit of LOTR.

I made a private link to a html sequential comic book page view of 43 pages, some finished, most just pencil. The text is gobble-dy gook. It needs a real pro to put just the right inflections in their mouths.

Here's the link (it's separate from my website, although the first few pages may look like they're on it. They're copies).

Here's the link to a very rough overview of what the first five chapters (each 8 pages long) are up to:

And finally here's just the rough draft script as is, with the actual text broken down page by page and panel by panel.

To reiterate:

You the writer (getting full credits for it) are re-writing all the text on each page (maybe keep page one as is, it took me FOREVER to come up with just the right tone in the narration -Hecate is narrating). Also, to make this work you must be writing through several pages at a time, so that I can see where the narrative flow is heading, and to solve logistical problems early on.

I put the words in and ink and color each page, make it all pretty like.

You drum up support through a Patreon http://www.patreon.com/ page (that we share but you manage) with a regular new page schedule of a new page every other week.

You keep a nominal sum from the Patreon proceeds for your writing and marketing work; $100 for each page. We split the remainder, if any.

Sound like a plan?

Take your time to read through the script, and please feel free to email me if you're interested: larsen.tim4@gmail.com

I tried to keep the story line as easy to understand as I could.

-Tim.

Last note:

On that page I feel I had the slightly medieval looking font just the right size and shape, so you can adjust the amount of text in the balloons accordingly.

UPDATE: A few small requirements added.

Post by strega guy »

Hi all. I got a tremendous response to my post seeking a writer. So to better make a decision I'm adding two requirements. (Very easy):

1. re-write the first 16 pages, using my website links (see the original post). It can be an attachment to your email.

2. Go to Patreon's website. Read the steps it takes to build a crowdfunding site. Then get back to me with a short report on how you'd set it up (video updates, rewards, etc.). In other words, I'm expecting us to make money by driving traffic to your Patreon site containing my artwork you did the writing for. How are you planning to accomplish that? Bonus points for adding Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, Tumblr etc. so long as the Patreon site is central.

The candidates who complete steps 1 and 2 will make it to the final round.

Thanks once again!

Hi!

I am a writer and I am interested in your project; however, at the moment I cannot provide the re-written pages nor the report. I will send the latter as soon as possible; as for the former, in the meantime you can take a look at my personal website to see some samples of my writing skills: http://mrevilside.wix.com/mrevilside. I could also provide a longer portfolio via e-mail if you wish.

Hi, Tim!

I gotta say, that your ad, and your website is one of the best and most respectful websites I have ever seen an artist put up. You have little flashes of confidence that are appealing, without diving into the ego pool, and you obviously understand why a good writer and a good artist turn out a great product. I hope you find the writer for your project, as the art looks great.

I would apply for the job, but my collaborations have been taking off, and keeping me very busy. I just wanted you to know that I for one, appreciate the openness and warmness of your attitude and site.

Eagle
(All of the best luck to you!)

Submissions are now closed. Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback, though. I'm sure Strega is going to make a big splash soon!
