Hello guys,
We still need more members to join us on this.
We are planning to have a small library of well selected comics to be featured in our website and applications. The idea is to have a weekly episode of each comic uploaded to users to purchase and enjoy.
Our website is in the last stages of development and our guesstimate for the launch would be beginning of January 2016. We are also finalizing the media concepts and campaigns to be launched in December 2015.
Our deal to the chosen artists will be percentage on sales. Given the amount of buzz we're planning to create with our concept and digital media campaign, we believe we will generate a decent traffic to the website and apps worldwide. This would be a great opportunity to all artists to get your names out there.
Important notes before you send us:
- We need writers + illustrators... so if you are a writer and think your story can make it, please try to find an illustrator that would agree on the same terms above.
- We are more than happy to check out multiple projects from a single artist.
- Make sure your story can cover at least 8 episodes (2 months)
If you are interested please email me at anytime on (alaa.numair@gmail.com) with a small brief about your story and I will make sure to get back to you within two days max whether you got chosen or not. Once you are chosen we will share with you the concept of the website and how things are going to work in terms of episodes timelines and payments.
Hope to hear back from you guys soon
Cheers,

Need more information
I'm confused, will you need a page a week or a chapter a week. And will the site have a paywall for users? I'm confused.

Re: Need more information
No ofcourse not a page per week... A monthly issue is usually between 20 to 22 pages, so our idea is to have it divided into 4 "episodes" (5-6 pages) and publish them weekly.Ruyei wrote:I'm confused, will you need a page a week or a chapter a week. And yes the website and apps will have a paywall for users, but each comic will have a brief and exciting summary to attract users (along with artists info, release dates and ratings). In addition, we created some incentives to encourage users to pay for the comics and help create a buzz.
Hope this answers your questions

I'm sorry but how many times do we have to get this lame salesman pitch trying to sugar coat the fact that they want you to work for free.
And regardless of the "buzz" and the positive reviews and all of that, the artist is still going to work a few hours and get no pay. Why? Because "buzz" doesn't make sales and if the writer's last name is not Gaiman or Snyder or Millar, then you won't be doing anything other than wasting your time.
smh

I'm sorry if that sounded as a "lame salesman pitch"; I can assure you I wasn't trying to sugar coat anything...
My team and I are interested in creating an interactive community that enables unknown artists to reach out there. We are not interested in "Gaiman or Snyder or Millar" as they already made it in a way. There are a lot of great unknown artists who have brilliant ideas, but without a proper channel and the right marketing, they aren't getting what they deserve.
So basically what we are trying to do is create a channel that can support these artists. And because they are not "Gaiman or Snyder or Millar", we added the incentives system and decided to have a proper marketing campaign to create the buzz.
And for the sake of being transparent, yes this is a business deal. We are investing in developing the portal and apps and creating the appropriate marketing tools for this. Still, we are giving the artists an option to advertise their work (in a way) through the proper channels. But instead of having a couple of drawings and links from each artist, we want to have a small library of great and ready stories. That way, we will actually help the artists sell their work and advertise their names at the same time. We all know that one successful published story can make a great difference for an artist career. But since not everyone is lucky enough to find a big publishing company that can sponsor his/her work, why not try this?
Again, we are not forcing anyone to join us, but whoever believes in having a proper channel for his/her work can give it a try and see what happens. We already have a few artists and some good stories that got on board but we still need a little bit more to ensure having a diversified library that meets the different tastes of users.
And for those who believe its taking a risk of working for free, we understand, but we only ask you to support us after the launch by spreading the word and helping those who did.
Cheers,

That lets me and my comics out.

(I'm happy to get 2 new pages a month from my artists)
Nope that wasn't what I asked for....
I asked you guys to make sure that your stories would last for at least 2 months (8 episodes). We do not believe that short stories that ends in 10 pages would work for this.
At the start, and if your story got chosen, we will only ask you for two episodes to cover the first two weeks. That way we can test it and see if we used the right marketing for it. Because, once your story is chosen you will have our full support and we will do whatever we can to make it work. And when it starts generating the right amount of revenues we will prepare a timeline to submit the following episodes. That way, we believe the artists wont be risking too much work and effort for nothing.
