(Pitch)

The rules have changed.

In a world previously devoid of magic, three things are made abundantly clear.

• This new force is in all of us, even if in small amounts
• It is addictive
• It is acquired through murder

To protect oneself, one now needs magic, the control over said substance becomes the source of turmoil, a turmoil that leads to new alliances, betrayals, tensions, conflicts, executions, sacrifices and oh! So much more…

For, you see, our minds are corrupt, our consciences dwindling and no one is safe, ever.

These are the facts, these are the rules, let the slaughter frenzy begin.

Hi! Alexander Lidström, 21, English, Swedish, raised in France and looking to break into the comics industry. I attended Atelier Stockholm for two years where I learnt a lot of my fundamentals. I then spent a year in a small cabin in the middle of nowhere learning digital painting. The last few months I've been improving upon my penciling and inking while looking for a "real" job, no such luck. So here I am, hopeful.

First of all, I know no publishers. It'll be up to you, the writer, to make or provide such contacts.
Secondly, the pitch is a guideline. Let your imaginations wander where they will. The setting could be grounded in modern reality, Walking Dead style (but with a magical pandemic!) or be more medieval. I'm thinking the "inherited" abilities could stack up (making it impossible to dispose of powerful people for fear of creating an even more powerful entity), cancel each other out,...
Thirdly, I'm thinking a black and white first issue, I'll do the penciling and inking when you've approved the layout.
Finally, the Pandemic needs some kind of "origin" story, and, because it's magical, it could be anything...

Please send me a submission containing a draft of a first issue. Be kind enough to include an approximate page count as longer submissions will only have a better chance if they come from writers with a greater publishing history (i.e. more likely to provide external funding).

I do have another project in mind which would be science fiction based. I may pitch it to you in a week or so, depending.

Thank you those who responded to the actual post! I've picked my writer and we are on our way to making some awesome work (hopefully).
