Seeking Artist for Horror Comic

Post by LennonSkywalker »

Hey, everyone, how you doing?
We´re looking for an artist over here for a Horror/Comedy Comic. Think on Evil Dead, Shaun of the Dead, Re-Animator or An American Werewolf in London for this one.

This would be a non-paid gig until after we got picked by a publisher, after that we could split any profit 50/50. There´s been some talk about the project, but we first need to show some pages before getting into any real business.

If you think you are the one for this kind of business please send me a link to your work to lennon.skywalker94.19@gmail.com then I could show you the script and talk about doing some Comics.

Thank you all and have a good day.

Dear artists:
Never accept this kind of deal. The art in a comic is much more work than the text. So, the 50/50 is a totally unfair deal. Anyone who offers you that is trying to take advantage of you, or simply he (or she) doesn't know how this bussiness works. In both cases, say NO.

Check here the fair page rate to artists and writers, check the proportions between both:

With all due respect OP, but do you really understand what you're asking for ? You're asking that someone work for free for a few pages, right? But if you don't set up a contract correctly, you're going to owe that person for those 5 pages.

Plus you say you're willing to go 50/50. Do you even know what that means? A lot of comic books have their rights bought before issue 1 even hits the stands. If that were to happen to yours and say HBO picked up the rights then you just lost 50 percent of everything. Not just profits but everything.

I know this kind of deal ain´t for everybody but I´ve actually posted this same deal on this page before and found a very good artist. Right now we´re about to get our first work togheter published and he seems to be ok with it; so it can´t be entirely a bad deal.
