Writer Seeking Artist(s) (PAID)

Post by Quantum »

Hey,

It's a new year and I'm trying to get new projects off the ground. My name is Malcolm, I'm a writer in Vancouver. I've come to ZWOL in the past with success for different projects that were both pitches and shorts. I've got a few shorts scheduled to be published in a couple of anthologies this year (and can send perspective artists them, if there is interest in the projects I'm seeking artists for today). I've also got a few pitches that are either just about to be sent to publishers or closing in on that mark too.

Simply put, I'm looking for artists for two pitches. They're both horror flavored but are completely different, other than that.

First pitch is called "Flyover Country" and it's a horror story set in a small Arkansas town in the 80's with a bit of a werewolf twist. The story is sort of like Classic Stephen King meets "Casablanca" with a southern twist. The script for issue 1 is complete and I can attach that along with the short story it's based on. This is intended to be a 5 issue mini.

Art style -- I'm looking for something a little more "realistic" and "gritty". Taking inspiration from say a Paul Azacetta (Outcast) or Christopher Mitten (The Disciples) or Matteo Scalerra (Dead Body Road) in terms of what I'm hoping for from a perspective artist for this project.

The second project is called "Splatter Disco" and it's a fucked up horror romance story about a man, who has the ability to make people explode by touch, who falls for a girl he can't explode (thankfully)... only to be kidnapped by said girlfriend and her crazy boyfriend and put through a series of bloody and fucked up tasks in order to facilitate his escape. I sort of picture this as Violent Love (new Image Comics series) meets Spread. Script is still being written for the first issue and is about halfway done. This project is intended to be a 4 issue mini.

Art style -- I'm looking for a fun style and an artist who isn't afraid to draw bloody violence. There will be exploding bodies and gunfights and all sorts of crazy stuff in this so, I'm looking for an artist comfortable drawing that sort of stuff. I'm hoping to find somebody with an artist style reminiscent of Mike Henderson (Nailbiter), Kyle Strahm (Spread), or Jorge Coelho (John Flood) for this project.

Artists -- What I'm hoping to do with these projects is to attach somebody to each project, have them draw some pitch pages (between 5-8 pages depending on the project) + a cover for the purposes of the pitch.... which I'll be paying you for. Once the pages are done, I'll assemble a pitch package and pitch the projects away to different publishers. Depending on publisher interest, we can talk about the project from there. Idea is that you'll be attaching yourself to the project as part of the art team and that you'll be committed to drawing the book if a publisher shows interest.

Please let me know if, behind penciling, also ink and/or color your own work. This'll let me know how to budget the project... in the sense as to whether or not I'll need to find an inker and/or colorist for the project too.

Email me at biohazard.quantum@gmail.com if you're interested in coming on board any of these projects. Also, please list your page rate and depending on your page rate and style -- who knows -- maybe we'll be working on one of these projects together in the near future!

Side note: Even if you don't know if your art style may fit, I do have other projects in the works from shorts to other pitches and I may pitch to you another project to work on (not listed here), if I see fit.

Cant wait to see some stellar art!
