bollocks to that fecking sermon. The only meat dbpress has to this argumement is that art schools and intstitutes contain good artists.DBPRESS IS NOT A GOOD ARTIST. Now i've actually seen his work after months of vagueness. The only way an art school would accept him were if his skills in another medium were substantially better. But i doubt we are dealing with drew struzan.. Lastly its a matter of principle. This is not a seeking pity/attention forum. Hes achieved the latter and if this site was moderated then it would've been moved to one of discussion sections within two days of its initial posting. WE SHOULD JUST INGORE THIS THREAD AND LET IT SLIDE DOWN THE FORUM BEHIND POSTS FROM NEW AND CURRENT CREATORS ON ZWOL.
in all actuality, Ruyei, the denial is pretty much accurate, in the case of the local city college here in Fresno. they pretty much don't allow any bulletins, without some stupid, over-regulatory stamp of approval.
however, at the university here, no such pre-approval is needed. also, what i would suggest is just posting flyers on light/telephone posts, along various streets, or better yet, around each corner of a local H.S., if one is located in a writer's particular town.

I'm sorry, but this thread is just pointless and to be honest, insulting.
Why would anyone do what you are suggesting? It's time consuming and limits your chance for finding someone to work with. I guess it's ok if you really want to work with a local artist, although I really can't see why would you.
But what pisses me off the most is that you are directly attacking writers. Why would not an artist do the same thing? Because internet is much more convenient right? You can leave link to your work for one thing, so it's easier for people to get interested in working with you. Same goes for the writers.
And yeah, you definitely could have worded the title better, but your first post is much worse because it makes absolutely no sense.

I think it's pretty limiting when people can't see your work. But ok, you did not explain what you meant by leg work. All I can think of are bulletin boards, flyers or just straight up stalking people, and it all seems like a waste of time compared to what net has to offer. Wouldn't it be easier to just post on more forums than to go through all that hassle?
But all that aside, why did you post this in a seeking comics artists/writers section? And in such a way that is not helpful at all. Your first post was "seriously, do the legwork, otherwise, don't say that you're serious about a project." Why? Just...WHY? Where is the logic behind this statement? This is one of the dumbest things I have read on the internet.

Seconded about vague and illogical statments. By the way i put 100 percent into strips i ILLUSTRATE thats why i get paid work and have numerous published credits in small press magazines and anthologies, in addition to ongoing collaborations on top of my own self authored and illustrated stories. Hasta la vista baby
