Negative Burn is a comic anthology published by Image/Desperado comics.
I am looking for someone interested in getting into the comic business, who would want to use this as an opportunity to practice collaborative sequential art under a deadline and to add a published work to his or her resume.
Summary of Story:
Richard loves his wife enough to kill for her -- but can he find the strength to take her life as well? Richard stalks the cold winter streets and cemeteries of 19th century London for the organs he needs to replace those failing his beloved wife, Elizabeth. And once this brutal harvest is complete, Richard must murder his own wife to rescue her from eternal darkness.
Here is a sample of the script:

To be clear: this is a *non-paying* gig. The anthology provides no compensation other than complimentary copies of the book (which I will, of course, gladly share with the artist.
Anyone interested please contact me at itdragon@gmail.com
Thanks,
Chris

I'm sorry, but if you want quality work with your anthology you're gonna have to either:
1. Pay the artist
2. Give the artist more time to work (that means remove the deadlines)
Plus, this is a title published by IMAGE COMICS that means its gonna make money one way or another. I find it hard to believe that you can't even offer a back-end deal (percentage of sales, which is usually the deal when Image publishes creator-owned titles).
People don't realize how much work is poured on a single page of artwork. Compensation doesn't have to be Jim Lee-sized professional fees. Just any amount to make the effort worthwhile.
I mean no disrespect at all, but you're gonna have to explain why this is a no-paying gig.

KS_Knight,
That is fine, the simple fact is Negative Burn is an anthology and as such the contributors make no money on the publication. Which why I am looking for someone who wants to get into the industry or is looking to get their work more visibility. If you look in the post it actually states why it is non-paying. I have other projects that do in fact have a page rate, but for this one seeing as how no contributor receives any moneys I will not be paying a page rate, and can not offer a percentage because %50 of nothing is nothing.
I also never stated what the deadline is, obviously, the sooner the story is done the sooner it can be published. I just simple have had to many artist that want 9 months to draw nine pages and that is just to long.
Having done several books I do know how much work it takes for an artist to do a page and have nothing but the highest respect for sequential artists.
The end result is that I stated it was an Image book to make sure people would know that their work would get noticed.
