An aviation adventure comic set in an imaginary world which parallels the Real Earth in the decades spanning from the late 1910s to the late 40s.

This is my project.

The 'aviation' theme stems from my love of the oeuvre of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herg%C3%A9">Georges Remi</a>, alias Hergé, creator of immortal comic icon <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Advent ... >Tintin</a>, and the <a href="http://it.tinypic.com/r/2aamwig/6">faithful way</a> he used to <a href="http://it.tinypic.com/r/33uvgoz/6">depict</a> <a href="http://it.tinypic.com/r/jkwvar/6">all kinds</a> of <a href="http://it.tinypic.com/r/2yo30oo/6">aeronautical hardware</a> in his works.

The idea is to follow the lives of a bunch of fighter aces, stunt pilots, mechanics, aeronautical engineers and aircraft tycoons as their personal experiences cast them in the middle of the historical events taking place in the fictitious world.

Think of WWI, the age of Air Cruises and records (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Au ... ndbergh</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amelia_Earhart">Earhart</a>, and the likes), Air racing competition (like the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schneider_Cup">Schneider Trophy</a>) and all the kinds of charachters which made air-related topics the hottest thing in the early 20th century (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italo Balbo">Italo Balbo</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard Hughes">Howard Hughes</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antoine_de ... Exupéry</a>).

Air combat will feature heavily in some storylines, and, though this is not intended to be strictly a war comic, the artist must be proficient with the depiction of military hardware (even other than airplanes), weapons and uniforms (which will be preponderant in the adventures set in the 'World War').

Other stories will range from exploration to racing, from political intrigues and upheavals to high society drama and even whodunits, all more or less tied with the aeronautical theme of the series (think of Indiana Jones, Cotton Club, Porco Rosso and other similar works).

The main stylistical inspiration is meant to be Hergé's "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligne_claire">ligne claire</a>" drawing, but seeing cited Miyazaki's "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porco_Rosso">Porco Rosso</a>" you can understand that other influences could add effectively to the suggested style.

The project has no set width and scope and is not meant to be chronological in nature: I could always turn back and add new stories dealing with previously unmentioned episodes (albeit following a stringent and logical continuity).

The stories are meant to be aimed at an audience aged 13 and up, albeit not graphically shown death will be a commonly acknowledged factor and some social commentary and pondering will be present.

Religion will not be discussed, but politics will be the main feature of several storylines, and will be treated from an objective point of view, people who may feel awkward at depicting a "good guy" who ascribes to a fascist or communist ideology (or rather their thinly-veiled fictitious counterparts) need not apply. One of my storytelling mainstays is that there are decent people in all camps.

So this is it.

Please, consider my proposal and let me know if you feel skilled and committed enough to help me making it real.
