published playwright needs artist to help develop new comic

Post by jvenhaus »

I am a published and award-winning playwright looking to develop an idea into a 6 issue comic mini-series. E-mail or PM me and I'll send you the treatment. I'd love to work with an artist to develop the look of the characters and the style of the book before I turn the treatment into scripts. Then, once scripts are complete, we can hopefully continue the collaboration until all the books are complete and hopefully published. Here is the basic plot: David Foxworth is a high school student at St. Cuthbert's school, a small private school in Dallas. He's small, and not very athletic, which in a Texas high school, means you are a nobody. Not even the drama kids like him, and they like everybody. His family is rich, and since he has grown up around rich kids, he never thought it was anything other than normal. One day he discovers the source of his Dad's wealth. His Dad is the head of the biggest organized crime ring in Texas. But, how can he keep living this lifestyle, knowing where the money is coming from? So, armed with nothing more than a home-made mask and an overdeveloped sense of right and wrong, David decides to try to covertly sabotage his father's business, and, when possible, steal from his father and give the money to charity. Busting up a major crime business turns out to be more than what one kid can do after school and still keep his grades up, so he recruits a few friends to help: a jock, a computer geek and a cheerleader. Together, these night owls try to try to balance the karma in David's life without getting killed or grounded.

Although there is a healthy dose of humor there is plenty of action and serious themes are explored. I would describe it as a cross between a superhero comic, the Sporanos and the Breakfast Club.
