Artists/Collaborators Needed for Fantasy Comic

Hi Everybody,

I have recently finished working on my second novel and have published through Amazon Kindle. It is a fantasy story in the same vein as LOTR / Game of Thrones called The Last Paladin.

I have not had much luck selling the project to a literary agent - many believe that the timing is wrong due to the imminent release of the Hobbit at the cinema.

So, I have decided to try and adapt the novel into a comic book and what I am looking for are artists and editors to help me do this - also looking for somebody to help me get it published in print/online if things progress that far.

I would love to be able to say "yeah I will pay you this much" but the truth is... unless this project proves a sucess... my budget is almost non-existent. Making money isn't my biggest concern - I would mainly like to see my work brought to life. (Though making enough money to pay off the £70k balance on my house would be cool and keep the wife happy) ;)

To give you some idea of the project I have included the synopsis that I sent to the literary agents below...

“Seven hundred years of perpetual night, the lands of the west suffer endless strife. An Empire rises and a kingdom falls, sorcerers slaughtered and people enthralled. They give in to despair, all hope is lost; the Dark Age endures at a terrible cost.
Yet in the darkest hour, when hope seems forlorn, the West Star shines brightly, to herald the dawn. A Last Paladin rises as the champion of light, with a prince and a pirate he shall hold back the night. The line is drawn, a battle fought, the lost heir is found, a kingdom restored. An empire is shaken; old friends shall fall, when the Last Paladin rises… as the saviour of all.”

Though appropriately vague the prophecy of the Last Paladin sums up the plot of this book. It is the tale of Rahn, a young man who has the weight of a three thousand year old prophecy placed squarely on his shoulders, and his struggle to free the kingdom of Valdore from the tyrannical Arcadian Empire.

The tale begins with an account of the fall of the ancient city of Lukara from the perspective of King Aiden, ruler of Valdore and Octavius Rufus, a general in command of the army sent to capture the city for the glory of the Arcadian Empire. Amidst the chaos of the battle the King’s daughter Kleeya is spirited away to safety by the King’s trusted advisor, Eurig.

Jumping forward twenty years the reader is introduced to Draco DeSouza and Nasir, the pirate and prince that are alluded to in the ancient prophecy, and their struggle to escape the Arcadian authorities sent to capture them.
Octavius, now a retired senator in his early to mid-sixties, has began to see the corruption of the Empire he has so loyally served and has taken steps to contact the Valdorean resistance through Cornelius, an acquaintance of Rahn’s. Octavius son, Gaius, is unwittingly drawn into the plot and is forced to flee the city of Arcadia with his father and fiancée, Jocelyn.

Whilst the fugitives flee the city the ruler of the Empire, Emperor Sixtus XV, gives orders for Octavius youngest son, Antonius, to travel to Valdore and put an end to the rebellion that has endured for the past twenty years.
Octavius and his party are saved from capture by Rahn who leads them through a sprawling forest to the mighty fortress of Castleguard – a castle that is said to be all but impregnable and one of the few places where the kingdom of Valdore endures. Meeting with the knights of Valdore Octavius makes his case that the Empire is being manipulated from an unseen foe and requests the aid of the knights in his struggle to free his people.

Unwittingly Rahn becomes the central figure of the ancient prophecy and the responsibility of finding Princess Kleeya is hung around his shoulders. Despite his concerns he travels to the distant shores of Seleya, home to the Elves, and begins his search for the lost heir – meeting Draco and Nasir who only serve to strengthen his companion’s belief that he is the mythical hero of legend.

When his life is saved by the princess, Rahn leads her back to the shores of Valdore where the monumental task of restoring the kingdom can begin. Whilst Kleeya and the rest of the party travel to Castleguard to make preparations for the inevitable war Rahn, Draco and Nasir embark on a campaign designed to buy the fledging rebellion as much time as possible – much to the irritation of Antonius who struggles to maintain order in the region.

The long road to the liberation of Lukara will see the companions face many hardships and betrayal at every turn. A great battle is fought and it is only through the sacrifice of one of the main characters can the small rebel army win the battle and march on Lukara and free the city.
Three months pass and the army of Valdore ride into battle once more to free the captured city of Cornubia from the Arcadians. The Emperor himself rides into battle alongside his fearsome Praetorian Guard and his trusted High Inquisitor, Kane, in a last effort to crush Kleeya’s army.

Thanks to the timely arrival of Nasir, who has taken his place as the Sultan of his people, the long drawn out battle will end in victory for the allies and shake the once mighty Empire to its very core. Kane is revealed to be the power behind the throne and seemingly takes his own life to escape Valdorean justice at the hands of his enemies.

Our tale ends with Rahn struggling to rebuild an ancient order that has long battled the brotherhood of which Kane is a member. He has embraced his destiny and while the Kingdom of Valdore struggles to rebuild he sets about ensuring that the people of Terra can endure the turbulent days that are sure to follow as the dark age ends and the renaissance era begins.
