New studio looking for writers

Hi there, my name is Evan and I'm trying to get together some talented writers for a Sci Fi studio; called StarJumper Comics. My goal with Sci Fi is to take it to the next level. I'm looking for something that will blow the readers minds away, and leave them wanting more. Yeah info on the new comic cooperation would be good too. Like if you have a distributor, what would be in it for the writer's and ect. I already have artists so I'd be interested in seeing if you'd want to see what I'm already shopping around, but if you're not into that I'd be into shopping some of my ideas. I have one in particular about a steampunk wildwest. But I feel uncomfortable pitching to a company without a website and without artists.

Me too, I have an idea about Steampunk set in an alternative Liverpool (and worldwide also) circa 1939.

I would like to know how it would be handled too, eg what the artists and the company cut would be.

Ok the studio itself is mostly for a young teens and mature age, we cover all sci fi subgenres. I have deviantart group http://starjumper-comics.deviantart.com/ . The way I think is fair, is the company will take 20% of revenue; to save up for printing and distribution and later down the line merchandise. It's up to you and your artist to to agree on the split of the remaining 80%. However, after reading an article of Frank Miller's, I suggest 50-50 is a fair split.

When the time comes for printing and distribution, the same cuts will apply. You will also receive cuts from merch sold based on the writers creation. Hope I answered your questions, if I forgot anything let me know.

20% of what? if theres no printing or distribution there is no product? what are you taking 20% off of?

Well to put it simple, the product will be digital comics. they will sold through the site which im working on getting up ASAP, graphicaly.com and cloud 9 comix. so there is definitely a product to sell. Basically you as the writer all you have to do is send me the synopsis to your comic, wait to see if i accept it, find an artist, if not i can find one for you and give me the finished copy and pay pal details to receive payments. im not asking for any upfront fees at all as i do not believe its right.

I'd be interested if I had a reliable artist partner.

I'm a little in the dark when it comes to comics but how do digital comics make money? Will there be advertising? I'm just afraid that "Digital comics" would solely be you guys putting the comic on the site and hoping it sells. I'm sure that's not your plan but I would want guarantees.

I do have an artist who wants to work with me and we COULD do a sci-fi comic... He's busy now and the current project I'm on is not sci-fi but slightly supernatural and cyberpunk. I'll definitely keep you guys in mind though.

I've done some basic zombie scripts, I was looking for an illustrator and a publisher, the scripts are basic and not really set out conventionally because I had an artist in mind and she doesn't really understand script terms, but she backed out. would you be willing to use this trilogy as it is a future set series and follows the virus across the world so it is roughly Sci-f horror.

I'm fine if you don't though.
