Be nice to artists. @forexposure_txt is watching.

Hey everyone! Just a friendly warning:
Artists are talented, hard working people whose work requires time, skill, dedication, tools and materials just like any other. Don't expect them to work like slaves, and don't take advantage of them.
Yes, sometimes partners work together toward a common goal, but a commitment like that is like a marriage, and no one will marry you if you act like an entitled jerk about it.
If you are a jerk about it, @forexposure_txt is watching, and you'll probably be quoted. Many of your posts already have been quoted, and/or had dramatic readings done of them.

What you're doing is really rude, to both artist and writers.

Is this a joke? You do realize that a writer is easily putting just as much into the project as the artist is, right? Yes, it requires a little cooperative symmetry, but the irrational demand for an artist's rights are easily countered by a writers rights as well. As GreyBubbleGum said, this is rude, and you're offending both parties. I'm sure you'll have a dandy little time "quoting" this little nugget I've thrown together for you though, because you've certainly go so very much going on in your life right now. This little act you're pulling is absolutely going to revolutionize the selective process of forum partnerships.

The blog is about writers of ALL SORTS, and that absolutely includes writers. Many of the quotes are about writers being taken advantage of. I am a comic writer, and I am in no way trying to insult comic writers.
Writers often get taken advantage of even more, because of the unfortunate fact that everyone has an immediate opinion of whether or not they like visual art with a single glance but determining a writer's skill takes time and effort.
If you want to write comics, it is even harder to show off your skill, because before you can get anyone to take the time to write your work, a third party has to translate it into a visual medium. I understand all that!
But many of the people I am quoting seem to think that they have an unalienable right to have other artists do free visual art for them. Yes, all artists have to work long, hard hours to get noticed. But they don't have to work long and hard on YOUR project.
It is a risky proposition, it is hard to get projects made. But If YOU want the project to exist, it's your job to find a way to make that happen. No one else owes you anything. There's nothing wrong with trying to get someone else equally passionate your project, so that they want to invest their time, but don't be a jerk about it, and if no one does, don't say any of the mean things I quoted on the twitter account.
If you are so sure it's going to succeed, do a Kickstarter! Get a loan! If you're not sure it's going to succeed, don't promise that it'll be so huge that the 'exposure' will be worth it.
The blog was started mostly to quote local businesses that expect free logos and such, it just so happens there's a lot of quotes from comic writers because they have the funniest quotes. I mean... wallet vampires? That's just GOLD.
I'm not quoting every person who ever looks for a partnership, just people who are jerks about it.

Yeah probably will offend some people (as it is the internet) but the format works on twitter and i get quotes like this any way in my feed both in twitter and tumblr so its nothing new. People wonder why no one gets in touch with them when they make quotable statement after quotable statment statementt.Although the posting on here probably would suffice with a dialling down. Considering this is specifically a looking for collab/work threadd. Im following you btw on twiter.
