Call For Artists

Hello, I recently completed a script for a dystopian comic titled, "Emerald City". The title is an obvious reference to the "Wizard of Oz", and much like that Emerald City, mine is a thinly veiled reference to the city's illusionary splendor, and the unsecured "greenback" paper money that allowed for it's creation.
Set in the near future, the story centers around the sole surviving member of the Takani ninja clan and his quest for revenge. I like to think of this book as "1984" meets "Lolita". I'm definitely striving to make this more than your stereotypical superhero comic. I'm hoping to push the boundaries of the medium and make a statement. Whether I accomplish this or not is yet to be seen. Right now, my ultimate goal is to find an artist. Preferably one with experience; paneling, inking, and lettering (I'm thinking BW for the book, to fit it's gritty tone). Once that has happened there are two options:
1.
Submit a proposal to one of the creator-owned publishers (i.e. Image). Or,
2.
Self-publish it.
Either way, there would be a lot of work involved and no money for our effort, unless we sold the book. I understand that we would all like to be compensated for our hard work, but unfortunately, this is would be an unpaid gig. Thus, it would be a good project for an artists in a similar position as I am in regards to their career. Someone looking to build a portfolio.
Of course, after the book was successful, all profits (from merchandise, movie rights, or otherwise) would be split 50/50 (with me retaining all character and story rights). I also would be willing to pay for the book to be printed if self-publishing is the route taken. If payment was an absolute must, I might be able to pay a small page fee if the artist chose to do the work on a strictly free-lance basis, with no hopes of future compensation.
I recently self-published a novel entitled Dry Heat, and have been published in various small lit. magazines; so I know the amount of work we would be taking on, but that is a chance I'm willing to take. I believe in the story that much.
Some of the topics in this book are controversial, so before anything, I am looking for an artist who would be comfortable aligning themselves with a project that deals with: socio-economic themes, teen-age prostitution, statutory rape, violence, child-abuse, drugs, and Christianity. The ultimate goal of this project is to create a 3 part mini-series, that would eventually be collected in a graphic-novel form after the initial run was through. After that the, the sky is the limit.
I expect to hear from some interesting people and look forward to getting this project off the ground. Any one interested should e-mail me at: elhuevopublishing@hotmail.com
Thank you for your time and interest.
