I was wondering how you as an artist like receiving scripts. Are there a lot of you guys out there that are picky and want it done Panel by panel. Or are there some of you that wouldn't mind a screenplay format? I was just curious. And would love some feedback. Thank you for your time.

I guess depends on the writer. Some writers are very detailed , down to the panel and way it should look. Some just have a page with dialog and descriptions and let the pencil compose the panels.

Picture- [intricate description here.]

Even if artists in the end take liberties with the presentation, a page by page and panel by panel format seems best. I used to just describe panels and left it to the artist to put it together, and he saw it as extra work.

Now, personally, I prefer having the description of the panel before the dialogue, but maybe that's just me.

Regarding the screenplay format (or plot-first style, prose, etc), while it's true that's extra work, a lot of us are used at working with those types of scripts (but since it's extra work, we'll likely charge you a bit more, -insert evil laughter here-). I know that it might be a bit hard to break down the story on pages and panels, but it gets easier with practice.

as I have worked with both,I do like the panel by panel breakdown-"bob walks in the 7-11 pissed looking for jeff" .that tells me all i need to know,and then knowing how many words will be in the bubbles(to leave room for the art,as to not cover it up)
