Writer seeking artist for Steampunk-lite comic!

Post by mdevillar »

Hello!

My name is Michael DeVillar, and I'm working the grind of trying to get published in the comic industry, like so many others. Here's the idea I'm presently working on:

Set in the weeks before the 1893 Chicago World's fair, the story focuses on a drunken gunman for hire who spends most of his days carrying out illicit jobs for blood money to feed his vices. That is, until one day he accepts a job from a rather wealthy patron who asks him to infiltrate a business rival's organization and sabotage his project for the World's Fair: a floating city. The gunman, faced with taking the job or potentially having to answer for his crimes, accepts the job and sets forth. Though when he gets to the city, what he finds is a dream of a better future, and a chance to prove he's more than just a murderer who lost control of his life. Abandoning his contract, he finds renewed faith and vigor in life, though the consequences of his actions come with a high cost.

The kind of art style I am looking for is one that is a bit more stylized than realistic, while still capturing the details of things to provide a vivid image to the reader. I can expound more on this if you like. I'm looking to get a demo packet made, so at the moment, the project would be about, 8-12 pages, along with character and concept sketches as a way to pitch the project.

Now, pay and that kinda stuff. I will be forthcoming and say that at the moment, I'm unable to fully fund a project and keep myself afloat. I can, and will pay where I can, and of course backend payments to cover costs would be a definite thing should the piece get picked up, or something else depending on how the project rolls out.

And I think that about covers it! If you're interested, my email is mdevillar@gmail.com

Feel free to send me a message, and thank you so much for taking the time to read this, I look forward to hearing from you!
