what is the average rates for writers?

do you charge per page? or project
do you breakdown the charges like plot - script - character development ( like bios) ?

What if someone has an idea and rough draft of a plot/concept and needed a writer to tie it all in so the story has structure? how much would you charge for that?

Hey mate.

I'm a freelance script writer. How much people charge depends on a lot of things really and my rates fluctuate depending on the persons budget.

I would only charge per page if it was a small script, e.g less than 15 pages. Personally i would charge $10 per page.

For an issue of comic i would roughly charge between $150-175.

For a 60 page one shot I'd do a discount at $300

Any research or character bio's attached to a comic I have been hired to write is included in that price.

This is just me mind you so writer's with more credits to their name might charge a whole lot more.

I believe that the professional page rate for writers is usually about $70 - $80 a page.

It all depends on the deal that you strike with the individual writer. For instance if it was a really good artist that was working on the comic, a little known writer, or there was a high chance it would be published with a reputable publisher then I am sure you could find a writer willing to work for a discounted rate.
