Hey interwebs! I’m looking for a penciler/inker for a short 4-pager.

What the story’s about: It’s a sci-fi vignette that harkens back to old EC Comics. Yes, cheese and all. There’s a pretty gory finish though.
Your role: 4 penciled and inked pages.
My role: Writer/letterer.
Deadline: Fairly loose. Ideally, I’d like at least a page a week. What’s most important to me is that you’re happy with the work you’re putting out and that there’s actual progress.
Payment: $200 divided into two payments.
- Payment #1 after the first two pages are completed. Payment #2 after the rest.
- Both payments with be through Paypal within 48 hours of each step’s completion.

Other notes:
- The short’s going to be colored. While I haven’t searched for a colorist yet, I’d love to find someone who can pull off a old-school coloring look. I’m talking off-center coloring, slightly-yellowed pages, etc. If you’re able to do this (and have examples), I’d be more than willing to bump the pay up.
- Yes, I’m hiring you as a freelance contractor. That being said, I want a collaborator! The “process” is one of the best parts about this medium; open discussion to enhance the story—be it through words or pictures—is absolutely essential. Let’s make something great. No egos here. Just the best product we can both possibly deliver =)

About myself: I recently received my Creative Writing Masters MFA with a focus on comic writing from Full Sail University. I won a bunch of awards (Valedictorian! The “Advanced Achievement” award! Woot!) and have been working on various comic projects ever since.

A short I recently wrote/lettered got picked up by Alterna and Challenger Comics, I’m the editor for an upcoming graphic novel that was funded through Kickstater, I’ve got a pitch project nearing completion, annnd a tie-in comic I wrote for a feature film is currently being penciled/inked. I’ve also done a bunch of random lettering gigs over the past few months—ROM Remix, Bartkira, and all sorts of other goodies.

$200 for four pages of sci fi is way too low; you're looking at 40 hours of work from your artist.

It's too low for me too, but it's more than the average people here offer to artists anyway.

Too often you see 'amazing projects' for which you:
1) won't be paid at all
2) get to share 50/50 (that means pennies) of profits that very likely will never come
3) get paid rates muuuch lower than 50 bucks

So at least I appreciate that this guys shows to understand that drawing comics IS a WORK and offers a decent page rate at least for up and coming artists that still are learning their way through.

Good luck to everyone with their projects.
