Hello All,

I posted the list of top publishers and links to their submission information.....but now I'm wondering....

Has anyone on here had the experience of submitting their work to publishers that they can share with us?

Just curious

I wrote my first short story called 'Fool Moon' with the intention of submitting it to Avatar. Eventually, I incorporated into a concept for an anthology I created called 'Gothic Romance'. After the book was complete, I submitted 'GR' in its entirety to both to Image, and a much smaller (now defunct) publisher. This was many years ago.

I'd heard that Image could be pretty nasty so I was prepared for the worst. Image's reply was simply something like "We do not feel this project would be competitive in todays market", so I took it as more of an opinion, and less of an insult. Anthology's are a great way to pool creativity, but in retrospect, I don't think too many get picked up by the big publishers. I could have went with the other small press, but ultimately, I decided to self-publish it myself. I didn't make money, I lost money, but I got to create my own brand, and cross it off the list of lifetime goals.

Thanks for the feedback. At least image got back to you with an answer instead of leaving you wondering. And congrats on creating the comic...I've started my first and I already feel some accomplishment.
