Seeking Out Co-Writer (maybe artist) for Comic

Post by Stein »

I want to start off by saying that in my current financial situation, I cannot provide payment should you decide to work with me. I imagine this is where most, if not all, artists depart as most of them appear to be looking for payed work, which is alright. I made this disclaimer for the purpose of informing those looking for payment that they unfortunately won't find it here.

Lack of payment is also one reason I'm searching for a writer to assist me over an artist at this time, as many I've seen are merely looking for an outlet rather than work. The primary reason I'm looking for a writer, to put it very simply, is to get more in depth. Currently where I stand in the comic project is an overarching outline, character and plot backgrounds. These only provide so much.

Right now as it stands, the comic is a connect the dot drawing without its lines, and I need help to draw in those lines, help write what actually lies within the comic and not just the plot at the surface level.

One thing I will offer that I've seen many not offer is flexibility. I offer this not only with what happens in the comic, but also the major plot points and outline, even things I have set in mind are negotiable. If I love your ideas, I'd be more than willing to incorporate them. This wouldn't be my project you'd be working on, it would be OUR project.

Now, the project in question is what I'd like to talk about next. After all, why agree to work or even talk with me if you don't know what you're getting into? The comic is titled "Devil". It chronicles the (after)life of a 22 year old man named Jay. Jay is recently deceased and now must face eternal damnation in hell.

Or does he? Upon arrival in hell, a seemingly endless, dense, poverty stricken city (not your conventional image of hell, is it?), Jay is confronted by the head honcho, Satan himself. Ol' Lucy proposed to him an alternative to damnation. Rather than suffer for the rest of his existence, Jay could serve under Satan's command as a devil, a human soul gifted the powers of the fallen angel. Devils have the purpose of overseeing the damned and punishing them. Devils are also tasked with hunting devils that have either gone rogue and work against Satan, and they also hunt what are called "feral devils", devils who have been consumed by the power of Satan and lost control of themselves.

I don't think I have to tell you which option Jay chose considering the title of the comic. I won't go further into detail about it. I merely wanted to pitch the concept or overall summary, to gauge a reaction and see if anyone is intrigued by it or interested in working. I have more developed though, which we can discuss if you are in fact interested.

If interested, you can reply here, or message me at the email provided below.

If you are an artist, or an artist and writer looking to assist despite lack of pay, we may have to go by different terms. With art, I may be less flexible for quality reasons as well as style of art. I do art as well, though I do not do it well enough to do this on my on. I will however be able to design characters. It's because of this I have a particular look and style in my mind of how this should look.

This doesn't mean you have to use a style similar to my own. I can be persuaded to use a different style for the comic if I particularly like it in your specific style. What's recommended is that your style be tailored to my own. Now without providing samples of it (samples of my art will be provided to those who request it via email), you can look at two artists in particular who I cite as my inspiration and have based my style off of theirs. Those artists are Marie Enger and Tessa Stone.

Tessa Stone: http://vert-is-ninja.deviantart.com/

My style is not identical to theirs, nor does yours have to be. It's merely my preference that they at least be similar. But as I said previously, this is not set in stone. If I love your style for the comic, you're more then welcome to take part.
