Okay first off I need to say these two things to avoid pointless time wasting BS from idiots on this forum...(if you don't got a stick up your butt about your expectations about needing an up front payment and/or how you feel all writers who are posting looking for artists need to act and present themselves then please feel free to skip the next 3 paragraphs and go straight to reading about the series I have written to see if it sounds intriguing to you)

If your an artist who needs an upfront payment all at once please get outta here! If had that type of money I already know who'd I get and it wouldn't be you. At this second that is not possible for me to do anyway so this isn't for you. I am however flexible to payment options and various different configurations of some money now, some later, plus back end sales percentages, or pay per page of work etc. But honestly, you'd be better off to get no money now or a smaller amount of money now and more money later because I'm someone you can trust to make it a profitable venture for you in the end. So in a way it's a guaranteed good pay day for any artist who takes it on even if no one bought a single issue because I have other ways of making money besides my comic writing...but right now all my money from that has to be reinvested into my other venture, so I'll be good on money in my life within a couple years one way or the other and I'll make sure you get a good payday from being awesome and working for less to no money up front now. I'm someone you can trust on that. But yea, payment is definitely negotiable and something can be arranged one way or the other, but I can't shell over thousands of dollars right now. So be open to discussing payments and the fact that at this very month or two (long shot of even 3 months) I can't make any payments yet.

Last post I made looking for artists people cried like little babies over it all and couldn't handle me expressing myself in a manner that was not reflective of the typical norms of either this forum and/or their expectations and views of how a writer should be approaching an artist and how this should all go down. So let me say this now...I don't operate on the normal levels! This is a good thing, but if you're too stupid to be able to see that please get out of here now! This isn't for you, just move on and accept that and that for someone else this might be exactly what they were hoping to find.

I'm me and I do whatever I want and say whatever because I don't care what you think if you don't dig it. So if you don't dig anything I say in this post, please just move along now. I don't want any "advice" or "helpful suggestions" from you, just accept that this post isn't for you and that I am looking for an artist who can handle a writer who didn't try to make a typical forum post seeking an artist. And PLEASE don't try to bring up some type of question like "Did you consider the ramifications of this..." about the story because I've been working on this for over 10 years...so yea, don't be so egotistical to think that any random idea that pops in your head after reading about my series hasn't already popped into my head years ago. The odds are that it definitely has. This series of mine required lots of tinkering with to figure how it could all realistically work out...when you hear what the story actually is about you will know why I say this...it's a concept that doesn't seem like it would work (but that's why its going to be great, because I found ways to make it work anyway).

With that being said...I have a brilliant series I have been working on developing for almost a decade now. Its going to at LEAST 15-20 TPB to really tell fully, probably more. It's one big story ultimately with a few different major plot arcs that all come together. Basically the timeline for the stories will run congruently throughout the series, and the first issue actually starts out about 2/3rd of the way through the plot line.

I designed the series so that the readers will get the most re-reading value from the issues because with each issue that comes out there understanding of these characters and their motivations/intentions will change and they will be able to go back and re-read past issues and "read" the story in a different light. It's brilliantly designed I must say.

This will be a very intelligent comic with what it does in terms of how the story and character developments unfold...and it will be a unique comic in terms of the variations in artwork styles and panel presentations as well. It should be a really fun one to work on for an artist because there's lots of room in the series (and individual issues) for doing different things with the art. So there's lots of flexibility potential here for an artist to really have fun with it because I have lots of different ideas for incorporating pretty much any strengths and ideas an artist has that they want to explore.

With that being said, the story is called The Fabulous F&#$'n Adventures of Pie-U and Ninjackoff!! It's about a couple of ordinary slacker type guys who gain super powers...One becomes Pie-U, a superhero who can create pies/pie-projectiles out of thin air. His partner is Ninjackoff, a teleporter who can only teleport (and teleport objects he touches )when he is bonerized/turned on.

The story is about what happens when two punk-hippie-slacker/rebel types gain very powerful abilities and their coming to terms with their new gifts and the possibilities they could use them for...both for good and not-so-good.

The protagonists are anti-heros in many ways for most of the series because their actions and motivations aren't so clear for many of the issues. The story's timeline starts out in the middle and throws the reader into the deep end. Each issue that follows will teach the reader "how to swim" in this world and understanding these characters. Its designed to be misleading so that each new bit of information revealed about their pasts and motivations will change the way the reader will interpret what is happening...are these guys well intented heros? are they delusional bad guys? are they just idiots who have no clue what they are talking about or doing? Are they wise sages who understand things that everyone else doesn't? A little of all or something else entirely? etc.

So yea, the story as a whole is very whacky and out there because the characters are very out there, as are their abilities. Clearly it takes a special kind of guy to be willing to be a super hero who can only use his abilities when he has a hard on going on (how will he handle others opinions of him and their reactions? etc) , or to be a super hero who's only ability is making pies appear out of nowhere!

But they are actually VERY POWERFUL (after the obligatory period of not understanding their abilities, and then training to enhance them etc) with what they can do, and over the course of their adventures they realize with their gifts they can change the world...but will they do it for the better?

The story starts out in issue one in the midst of them taking America hostage. And the following issues starts explaining their abilities and motivations a bit more by going into their pasts. Their origin tale will start happening around issue 3... and yes there is a good scientific explanation for their powers! And yes they do have super villians they have to go against!

It's a very deep, philosophy, meta-physics, and thought provoking comic actually, but it's balanced out with bonerz and pies in the face and nonsense.

Anyway this is long so thanks for hanging in there! I have a badly drawn and scanned version of issue one (and 12 pages of issue two) that you can look at...although the first 5 pages or so the comic are very hard to read because they are EXTRA roughly done (but I got much better at drawing after a few pages as I went along and therefore put more time into it so its actually readable after a few pages)... but it's fun to look at to get an idea of the tone of the series in a rough version of issue one. I also have a typed out script for these as well.

Ideally I'm looking for a LONG TERM creative partner for the series...but Im totally down with just finding one who wants to work on one or two issues...or even just one who will do 5-8 pages so we can shop it around to different publishers and take it from there. I'm open on it right now, so hit me up and let me know what level of interest you might have.

I have been trained in film making and film theory by award winning experimental film makers and published authors and scholars in the field who taught me how to approach writing and telling a story from a unique perspective that messes with and compliments conventional story telling. My point is, there's a lot of unique thought and effort in this project that you wouldn't expect from the premise of the series. I also have studied intensive philosophy and metaphysics for over 12 years that I will incorporate into the story

I designed it to mess with people's expectations and heads in all the best ways. My goal was to make the most intelligent, brilliantly creative, unconventional, and yet realistic and logical nonsensical story I could come up with! It's a super hero story with super hero action, but it also goes into very deep issues about psychology, sociology, meta-physics and philosophy.

It's a unique puppy but I need a bad ass free spirit artist who can have fun with taking on a project that blends styles and takes chances. There will be elements of manga and sunday-comic stripe elements/pictures mixed in with a more slick super hero comic story (think the look of Kirkman's invincible series, mixed with random manga, sunday comic type pictures occaionally etc and other things)

This is a lot to take in I know. So hit me up! Messaging me directly gets my attention way faster and tells me your more serious. Thanks for reading!

The thing is that writers FAR outnumber artists. Artists aren't needing writers so much, it's the other way around. Thus approaching an artist is a very delicate situation if you don't have cash on hand.

Ignoring this (And yes I remember your comparitively nice comments before) you start insulting people on this forum, especially acknowledging that some potential artists are the targets of these insults. This makes no sense to me.

I understand you're angry and upset, I have much the same problems myself as you do when finding artists. I too feel that something's wrong when hours of my free time making the best script shouldn't result in me having to pay money for someone to want to work with it. However it's the way this world works at the moment and although there may be some amateur artists willing to work with you (if you ask nicely) going into your search telling your intended audience that they're stupid is not the way to go.

I highly recommend that you close this thread before you get terrible responses and thus get more angry than you already are. I feel for you but starting a flame war never worked in anyone's favor.

I am an artist myself, and I don't mind collaborating if the script is good. But from the way you wrote the proposal, I am very sure that most artist, including myself will keep a distance from this project even if this could have gotten us an Eisner. Anyways, all the best for your comics

I read the title of this post and noticed right away a misspelling (note: my mother tongue isn't even English...), so I got a bad feeling about it right away -- if someone who calls himself a writer, can't even write in his own language, that surely doesn't really make a great impression on those who read.

Then I dared to read a few lines (noticing other misspellings, of course) and I simply had to stop there. No good artist will work with someone like you. Maybe a 14 years-old one who just started holding a pencil in his hands who wishes to be an artist, but for sure not even the shadow of a pro will approach you.

You sir, entertain me greatly. Actually I would say your post was okay... If you would have refrained from the needless, childish bashing xD You sound very immature and it confuses me that half of your post wasn't even about your project!

My advice would be to delete the first three paragraphs so potential artists can just read your story, which you say is genius. If it's so good, why do you hide it? Your first post was half self glorification, and now this one is half bashing others (who tried to give you advice).

And now you have two artists who say they wouldn't come close to your project. Now do you see it's not just "disgruntled writers" who are "picking" on you? Doesn't this show you that you might should consider revaluating your strategy?

I hope you do, it would greatly benefit you. Like I said, you can still be confident without coming off as an egotistical, well, I'll just leave it at that. I would advise you delete this post and start fresh, who knows, you could very well pick up an artist for your project. It would most likely be the best way to go about it. Good luck.

Apparently the road you take to avoid your destiny is often where you meet it on. I tried to avoid the same type of nonsense I got last time around but got a different version of it.

Although in defense of everyone who replied, your comments were just constructive and not just written out of a spirit of insecurity or ego like almost all the comments on my last thread were. I actually didn't mind any of them at all or what was said. I don't even disagree with you on your points. They just were more "unnecessary" comments that distract from the point of me posting this which is trying to find an artist for my project. I don't want people coming to this thread seeing just a flame war thing or something...I was just hoping to avoid all comments from non-interested parties, even if you were all just trying to be helpful.


But look people, I am looking for a REBEL ARTIST with a free spirit and a sense of humor...all your responses were very reasonable and fair of a reaction but you clearly aren't picking up on the level I'm coming from which is fine. You're just not who I'm looking for. You could just as easily been impressed with my post as well as finding fault with it. It's all in how you want to look at it, and I understand that with most people you're reaction would actually be very accurate...but I'm not most people! And I don't want an artist who is like most people either (ideally).

If my comic was a person it would be probably be a punk kid who liked to read a lot.

See I could work with any reasonably talented artist and get good results and it would turn out very good etc and I'm not fully opposed to just giving in and looking for that to get the ball rolling because it would be easier to find but I am still confident I'll find the right artist for the project.

The right artist for this project won't let a few minor hiccups like not having an ideal initial payday set up to prevent them from wanting to get the ball rolling. I have no guarantee of payment and yet I've been working on this for years anyway. I do however have full confidence in the story and my writing and the audience that my series WILL find. There's no stopping it, I'm not saying it's going to be the biggest comic success story in the world but it will find lots of appreciation, even if it's just a cult hit type of status or whatever.

You all don't know me so I'll just say this...I'm always ahead of the trends and everything I get really excited about and find lots to appreciate gets really popular eventually! Often it takes a little while for the rest of the world to catch up to realize how awesome it is, but yet it always happens! But you won't believe me probably anyway, but I'm not just spouting BS here. It's true and this comic will do the same, on what level I can't say for sure but it will happen on a level enough where the artists work will definitely be seen by lots of people that an artist would want to be seen by...even if they are just looking for a stepping stone over to some more established series or publisher etc.

But right now I'm looking for an ideal situation with working with an artist. I'm looking for an artist who is really looking for an amazing project to get deeply involved with that they will be excited about working on for a long time to come...not just a quick payday because they need the money. Yes, this requires some flexibility on their part but guess what it will be worth it! I want any artist I work with to make good money for their involvements...and it's my estimation that they will make much more from it in the end than they would if I just paid them an upfront fee for their work. But this series is going to be so awesome that the right artist would want to do it even if they weren't ever going to get paid! I would still write it and get it made even if I never made any money off of it, and I don't think it's asking too much for a creative partner to be into a project enough emotionally that their creative desires override their fiscal sensibilities...especially considering they still will get money from their involvement. Like I said there's lots of payment flexibility to be discussed...but first you got to show some enthusiasm.

If an artist isn't even intrigued enough by the story concept to inquiry more about it and get into contact with me to start discussing it in further detail just because they don't have a promise of the ideal all upfront payment situation then good! I wouldn't want that artist even if they were going to work for free! I want an artist who wants to be involved on an awesome project because that's what they love to do and it excites them by the idea of working on the right project!

Life's not all about money you know? And with that said, I too want to make lots of money from this and see the artist make lots of money. But more than that I want this story to fully come into life so the world can enjoy it as much as I do. Its a story I need to tell and it's a story that I don't think any other writer in the world could do as well I could!

This is a very special project here, and it's not asking much for the artist who will be involved with it to be have the depth of vision to be able to see it's potential. Will they see it's full potential from my initial posting? No of course not! But if they can't sense the energy behind it enough to be intrigued to contact me for more information or to be able to overcome the potential knee jerk reaction they might have to seeing the first few paragraphs of the post then they aren't who I'm looking for!

The right artist is out there, and maybe they will be only the right artist for a one issue involvement...but the right person will present themselves to me eventually one way or the other. I'm not worried. So thanks for any concern but please don't waste your time, it's just not necessary, and the posts about it just detract from why I created the post to begin with (And yes I do understand the irony of that last statement in light of how I started my post).

So if you can't dig it, that's fine, but that doesn't mean that someone else isn't able to see past the things you view as issues. I'm actually very fun and very easy to work with and very flexible in many ways. But I need someone who isn't going to get hung up about everything. If you're getting hung up over the way I started this post there is NO WAY you are going to want to be an artist who is going to be drawing a superhero with a boner all the time...which is why I say I need a rebel artist with a free spirit and a sense of humor or your going to be too hung up about things in life to really convey the right ic/laughing-at-yourself/life type of vibrational energy I'd like to see in the drawings!

its nice to see that you are saying that you actually have a script now for your comic, that's good. showing a page or 2 of that script would be better. its good that you are now pointing out that you did the storyboards and that they need improvement. personally, i would take the storyboards down or at least not advertise them because it makes you as an amateur look more amateur than anyone else out there, and you probably don't want that. I would show your script and only your script.

ok, now for the art. I think the style you might end up with is something like MARTIN MYSTERY based on what you said you want. MM has that superhero kind of look and they throw in manga/anime from time to time. its worked for others so it could work for you. I'm not sure how the sunday-comic strip art would fit in, but i would depend on how you have it written in your script when that style of art comes into play.

I think your story could have wayyyyyyyyyyyy too many things going into it based on your synopsis:

creative
unconventional
realistic
logical
nonsensical
super hero action
psychology
meta-physics
philosophy

when you break down your criteria into point form it looks more like a course list for university, or rather, these are the degrees you have, they aren't making you money and you need to make money off of them some how. I can relate to that, I have a fine arts degree and making $0 from fine art, so I do comics. again, it all depends on the actual script itself for how these pieces are put together.
