Just need a little advice

Post by Mike Hawk »

First, I want to give a shoutout to ruyei, who gave me some great advice and support that led me to just start my webcomic even if the art isn't perfect right off the bat.

Now, I've already made five pages, which took me a couple days because I was using the paint program to insert my speech bubbles, then thought word would be good, but then finally realized that publisher was probably what I should've been doing all along.

But I want to know if there was a better way to insert the speech bubbles and if there is a software that gave me more speech bubbles. I also want to know where a good place is to upload my comic once I finish my first issue.

I'll go ahead and post my five pages here

on deviant art so you could also provide some feedback on anything. My method of making it is just using a number two pencil and a black colored pencil (except on first page) and then I just scan it on my laptop.

A lot of people use manga studio to do the word balloons. Personally i find the program hard to use but thats just me so i stick to photoshop. Aside from that, i find you can tell when someone has used manga studio because it has a look to it and it seems less original when your work and layouts look like someone elses. Again thats just me. How i do my word balloons is i do my page layouts with words and all in photoshop and print it out fullsize 11x17 and then do all my drawing and draw the word balloons by hand. For me it works well because it fits the over all style of the comic.

Comic Life 3 can also be used for lettering. It has some annoying aspects, but some people do use it.
Someone once told me 'if you've got a world in your head, you have a responsibility to give it life'.
