Seeking Penciller for TRANSMEDIA project (ONGOING PAY)
Posted: Thu Mar 12, 2015 9:32 pm
Hello everyone,
The TL;DR version: we need a penciller, inker and letterer (or one person who can do all three or two, etc.) Provide your portfolio, rates, contact info and a list of projects you're CURRENTLY working on.
------------------------------------
The Long version:
Before I go any further I want to say this is going to be a long post. It's long because I want to post as much information as possible while not overstepping the company bounds.
I have been lurking the board for two days now and I'm impressed with the talent on this site. I'm posting this thread in hopes of finding someone who can contribute to a new transmedia IP that my company has developed. For those of you who are not familiar with transmedia, it is a genre and business model and, in a nutshell, it's basically telling one story across multiple platforms or mediums. Such examples are Star Wars (cartoon, movies, comics, books, games) Mass Effect (comics, games and book) The Walking Dead (game, comics, tv show) and many other franchises where the overall story, not just the same part of the story, is told across multiple platforms.
We already have a major portion of the IP wrapped up and in the bag. We are currently looking for a penciller, inker, and letterer to complete the first issue of the comic aspect of the IP. If you are one person who can tackle all three that is fine. If you only have skills in one area, or two areas, that is fine. The main thing is we want to see your work and we want to get the ball rolling as we have a deadline later this year for a major comic convention in the area (booth, promo material and none comic related aspects already completed.)
The comic will be in black and white, it fits with our theme, so there will be minimal color involved. We want to do thirteen issues a year instead of twelve but if we need to cut things down to six issues, due to a work load or something else, then it is something we are willing to discuss and do.
What we have for the comic:
Character Bible
First issue in script format (panels, dialogue, monologue, etc)
What we need from those who are interested:
Your portfolio
Rates
Contact information
The names of any projects you CURRENTLY have on your plate
We are not looking for the best rate or the best art. We are looking for the best person/people that are in line with our company culture and brand. However, in saying that, we will not be taken to the cleaners financially and we want what is fair and equitable for all parties involved.
Once we have around five people that are within our price range and fit the look we are going for as far as the comic is concerned, we'll go to phase two and basically "interview" you to see if you're a fit for the job. The interview is not hard, it's very easy actually. Do we vibe with you? Can we trust you? Would we work for you if the roles were reversed? Will you give it your all? Do you feel like you are part of the project as a whole and that this is your baby? After this is done we will select a person, get them under CDA (confidential disclosure agreement) and discuss the IP. From there, if all parties agree, we will come to financial terms and the clock will start rolling.
Lets see...anything else I forgot to mention? Not that I can recall but if there is then I will edit this post and add it.
In closing, I look forward to hearing from you all and looking at all the artwork,
The Monarks
