Artist wanted for crime fiction miniseries [paid]

Post by kespa »

Hi, guys!

I'm looking for and artist (pencils+inks) for darkly themed three part crime fiction miniseries. I would first like to do about 5-6 pages and then pitch it to all the relevant North American publishers (lets say top 15). I'm aiming high with this series so your art must be good enough, so please take a look for the stuff that top 15 publishers put out, before you submit. I would prefer kind of "dark" style.

I'm comic book writer from Finland with 15 years experience in my home country. Little over half years ago, I decided to pursue international writing career and I have then got publishing deals from Heavy Metal magazine, SST Publications and I just finished my first graphic novel for top 5 publisher. One of my graphic novels will also be filmed as a feature film in Austria later this year. So I have lots of determination to get my stories published. You can see some of my stuff on my Facebook writer page: www.facebook.com/writerhannukesola I know that my English is far from perfect, but on my scripts I of course use proofreaders:)

So I would need to know your page rate for this kind of project and of course I must see your sequential art samples (only). I don't have tons of money, but on the other hand I don't want to underpay anyone. I will choose artist that has the best quality/price for me and of course your offers will show me if you have realistic expectations what can be made of these kind of creator owned series, because my plan is also make some money out of this too, not just to support my creative team:)

Send your applications to my email: hannu(dot)kesola(youknowwhat)gmail(dot)com with title Crime Comic (so I know you have actually read this), other messages wont be noticed. If I'll choose you, I we will make contract. I might need sample panel to be made too.

Here is script sample from the series:

PAGES FOUR AND FIVE (three panels)

Panel 1.
Mark takes the folder into his hands.

CAP/MARK:
When I was a cop, I solved a pretty high percentage of cold cases.

Panel 2.
Panel from frog perspective on the table. Mark opens the folder but the reader doesn’t see the content yet.

CAP/MARK:
But... There was one specific case that I just couldn’t solve. To this day... It still haunts me.

Panel 3.
This should be the biggest panel on the two page splash page. Now we see what is inside that folder. It’s full of documents and papers but on top are photocopies of black and white murder scene photos. In the photos is a 16 year old boy’s body that is lying on the ground. He is photographed on his stomach so his face is not seen. He has suffered a blunt force trauma so his skull was partially hit inside. There is no blood pool as the body has been dumped on the site after the kill. The boy is only wearing 70’s style boxers. There has been a hurricane on the site so there are lots of loose rubbish and pieces of wood etc. from nearby houses.

CAP/MARK:
The murder of 16 year old Scott Dunaway, back in 1975.
