Penciler seeking collaboration

Hello everyone, its been quite awhile.
I was busy working on my portfolio and applying to some art schools here in Boston . Now that I'm done with that, I can finally focus on practicing.

However, I do not want to become overwhelmed with just pure practicing . I would like to devote some of my time to sequential art , the reason I started drawing in the first place.

I think that I can find a healthy balance between practicing and enjoying myself by offering myself as a penciler to a project.

Be advised that I'm working full time right now before school starts in September, in order to help with the tuition. So I will be doing a more simple style and with less detail in order to take less time than the usual.

I'm mainly interested in horror, crime, noir and some sci-fi. But feel free to shoot anything else at me if it mixes with any of the above genres.

I would prefer if you already have contacts with an inker or letterer or do these yourself. If not we can find them anyway.

I would be fine with a back-end deal . But I would appreciate your support by maybe helping me with some of the art materials that I would be using. I would only be asking for $15-20 for the entire issue (around 22 pages). Besides , it wouldn't be upfront . I would gladly accept any contribution for my materials after turning in ten pages or so .

I would also like to show our first issue to some publishers .Obviously Not Image or Darkhorse. But to very small indy publishers like emeraldstar or coast-comics for example.

hey man, its good to see that youve added to your portfolio. when it comes to publishers, dont aim low, aim high. the little guys wont get you exposure and you wont see $$$ at any point in your life, your hard work will go to waste. look at the top selling publishers here http://www.drivethrucomics.com/ and aim to get in with them. also, look at the indie comic book forum on facebook, theres a few indie publishers there that are pumping out good work too.

as for your portfolio, you need to add more sequential work. based on what ive seen, you should advertise yourself as an inker, your inking is way better than your penciling. google "pencils" by published artists like Jim lee or greg capullo or david finch and ink their work and put it out there for people to see. you will probably get work rather fast. dont get me wrong, keep working on your pencils but sell yourself as an inker. also try to go right in and ink right away, skip the pencil stage and see how it goes.

Appreciate your advice . Thanks for the links.

I know that 4 sequentials pages arent enough. But im just looking to practice mainly.
I dont have any inking samples though . Theyre just inks over my pencils.

Back in my junior year I tried inking over other peoples pencils like john byrne . But i did it on normal paper which is terrible but i didnt have any way off printing stuff into a bristol board and i still dont.

So Im trying to get into digital inking . Hopefully i can make it look right.

Its easy. Get bristol, cut it to the right size and run it through your printer. Now if you need to print it at 11x17 then you need to save your pennies and buy a slarge printer or go to staples and get them to print it. If you mail a self addressed stamp envelop to dark horse they will mail you pages to ink.
