Independent Comic Book Publication Seeking Artists

Post by DualityComics »

We are Duality Comics. We are a team of writers collaborating on rendering of our concepts and characters. We have around ten issues worth of material written and approximately three issues formatted and ready for line work and colour. We also have a basic outline of up to 50 issues of material ready for editing and polish. We are aiming at 24- 26 page issues. (excluding ads, pin-up art etc...)

We are looking for artists with skills necessary for sequential panel work primarily but are interested in studies, pin-up and guest cover work from parties that may be inspired by our project.

As self starters and admirers of unseen or unrecognized talent in comic books, we wish to showcase aspiring artists through our creations. We believe everyone deserves a foot in the door. Maybe that person is you.

Please keep in mind that even though you may not be chosen to do our panel work, you may indeed have what it takes for the other aspects of marketing and print work that we wish to incorporate into our publication(s).

If you think you are the type of artist that can follow direction, work within set time limits and reflect and bring to life a story line with vast potential for alternate time lines and exploration of themes and topics we want to hear from you.

In order to apply we would like you to provide us with a three (3) pic spread of your choice. The subject and tone are completely up to you. We are interested in what inspires you and to know how your passion for comic art and its creation is reflected in your work.

So, we need a closeup shot of a primary protagonist of your choice, a sequential action sequence of up to five (5) panels featuring your chosen subject and a landscape/perspective shot. It is not necessary to include your protagonist in the perspective but the choice of course is yours. A cityscape shot with solid line work would be a good example.

We are asking this of you in order to decide and to evaluate whether you have the versatility and passion that we are looking for. We are confident that there is a perfect a match for our concept out there somewhere. Hopefully it is you.

If you have what we're looking for you will hear from us.

We understand that although it may be difficult to enter into a project without the background story with a shroud of protective secrecy may be a bit intimidating and risky. We assure you that you retain all rights to all work provided for our consideration and any artist we wish to work with will be offered contractual work to be negotiated by all parties once our decisions have been made.

Post submission interviews and introductions will be done via skype and email. Please have these mediums installed and familiar to you if you are contacted. We are open to contractual work based on commission per page, per issue etc...All parties will be protected by written contract and all discussions of material and the sharing of ideas and/or art remain confidential. We expect professionalism from you and you can expect professionalism from us.

We thank anyone and everyone who may show a spark of inspiration and drive for this project.

Please send submissions to dualitycomics@gmail.com. Please include a Skype address and a your primary email. If selected for further conversations about the project you will receive feedback as soon as we can within 24 hours whenever possible.

We thank everyone who gives themselves a chance at working for a project we think has incredible potential for everyone involved.

Cheers and good luck to everyone,

Duality Comics
