I have a 45-page long comic script; part of a 7-issue, finished storyline. I’m seeking an artist willing to pencil the 9 initial pages for me, at $20 per page, 1 page per week. This is contract work, not an equal partnership. You will be required to sign this contract.
Contact: e.soghe (at) gmail.com
In short:
- I retain exclusive rights to my story and IP
- I have non-exclusive rights to use your art (always including credits) in promotional material.
- You have non-exclusive rights to use your art in promotional material as you see fit (e.g. in your portfolio or on forums)
Why a contract?
If I was in my comfort zone, I’d have no qualms about saying “let’s just talk things over by email and get to work!”. While I have relevant experience - my education and work experience is in creative writing & management, chiefly pertaining to game development, which I’ve done professionally for a year - my inexperience in *comic books development* compels me to be boringly professional. After the first 9 pages, any number of things could follow: We could agree to do the 14 remaining pages under the same terms; we could draw a new contract as equal partners; or, we might just part ways.
The story
The setting is near-future sci-fi. The year is 2248, and humans have taken their evolution into their own hands. We improved our average intelligence and lifespans, but in the process we let apathy overtake our ability to feel emotion.
The birth of a girl with an enlarged heart will change everything.
Here are the 45 pages:

Requirements
My “experience” requirement is very modest:
- Enjoys drawing sci-fi
- Previously drawn 20+ pages of comics
- Previously drawn panels from someone’s script before
- Will have no qualms about asking me to clarify on descriptions, suggesting alternative panel layouts and so forth.
