Writer Seeking Collab with Artists on Several Short Comics

Post by Quantum »

Hello everyone,

I am a writer and I'm currently looking for several artists to collaborate with on a variety of short comics I've written. The genres range from horror, absurdist humor, crime, sci-fi, fantasy, and realism. The scripts range from 3-7 pages per comic. I can also craft short comics to suit a particular art style if necessary. My hope is to get a few short comics done to submit to anthologies or just self publish. I'm hoping to build up a small

Right now, unfortunately, I do not have the means to pay for these collabs. This may change but right now I don't. I want to be up front about that. So interested parties need to be prepared for that. Sorry if that disappoints people.

When responding to this post, send me links to your art and based on what I see, I'll send you a script that I feel corresponds well to the art and we can talk from there.

Mention the ZWOL post in your e-mail.

My e-mail is biohazard.quantum@gmail.com
Feel free to PM me on the boards.
If you have google hangouts, add me, that'll be the best way to get a convo going with me.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing your awesome art!

Be brave, link to the scripts so people can see them! Think of it this way, artists are never hired unless they show their art. Writing is the same way!

Ruyei, I have done that in the past but I recently had trouble with someone trying to plagerize something I had written so I can't do that at this time.

However, I am still looking for artists on the following short comic stories:

"Soft Shelled Crab" -- A comedic look at how a crab goes from the bottom of the sea to one's dinner plate. An absurdist tale.

"Younglessly" -- A sci-fi story about a man who rapidly ages in a world that never ages.

"Win, Place, Show" -- A young boy recounts his day at the horse track with his Dad.

"At Night, She Sings" -- A horror story about a graverobber finding something most unexpected in a cementary.

"I Honor You" -- A knight seeks revenge on the man who killed his wife.

"Fire and Brimstone" -- A caveman gets more then he bargained for when he creates fire in a forest.

If these peek your interest, please contact me either by PM on these boards or via e-mail at biohazard.quantum@gmail.com

The scripts range from 3-7 pages.

Hope to hear from some of you wonderful artists soon.

I have to ask...How did someone try to plagerise you? You are protected by copyright, and since you are writing scripts, someone still has to get it drawn.

My scripts that are not in production are sitting on my website for anyone to read. Two days ago, I took them off-line since I had my file library done, and uploaded them as .odt files for free download.

I have yet to see anyone try to plagerise a script in this hobby. Not saying that it doesn't happen, but I just find it highly unlikely.

It usually is highly unlikely. It comes down to the fact that a screenplay I wrote ended up on somebody else's website where they tried to pass it off as their own work. It was a one time thing, sure, but it did sort of freak me out. Luckily, I was able to get them to take it down but it still irked me.

Again, I will send one or all of those scripts listed above to any interested artists. Hell, any writers who want to trade scripts and do critiques on each others works, I'd probably be into doing that as well. It's just at this time that I'm not comfortable putting my scripts online. Maybe in the near future but not now.

Ah....Screenplay...totally different ball game. The comic community has some blatant rip-off artists, porn-tracers, panel swipers, and plagerists, but we usually know who they are, and so do the fans.

And they are few and far between.

Eagle,

I realize that as I dip my toe into the comics scene that those kinds of people are, like you said, few and far between. It only takes one bad experience to sully the batch, it seems, but I'll work past it. Thanks for saying that... I'm glad the comics community has each others backs, this is what I like, so thanks for the word of support.

On that note --

I've been getting tons of great responses. I've got a few more scripts in need of artists so if this interests you, let me know, and I'll send some scripts over and we can chat. My e-mail is biohazard.quantum@gmail.com

Looking forward to seeing some more art (hopefully).

Cheers!

Actually, I have scripts of my own, and collaborations going on at the moment. I do art in addition to writing, and have 3 on-going series releasing pages at this point, with two more in the works.

And I post my scripts on my site, and don't worry about people trying to copy them. I wrote them and created them and know that even if someone steals one, they are not going to be able to write the next issue as well as I can, and I know I am protected by copyright law.

Really, it's a case of knowing that in order to gain trust, you have to give it.
