Writer seeking artist(s)

Hi!
I'm a swedish guy interesting in making a comic book (in english of course).
I'm a fiction writer since many years and have recently
been interested in writing comic book scripts. The problem
is that I myself can't draw so I need an artist (or more)
to work with.

I have an idea which I will share with those who are
interested. It's a horror/fantasy/sci-fi/mystery story about
two paranormal investigators (this is all I will share here).
The idea is inspired by authors like H.P Lovecraft and Clive Parker.
And tv-shows like the X-Files.

The goal for me is not (at first hand) to earn money out of
this project, I'm more interested in people reading it. But I'm
open for any kind of professional or independent publishing and
I'm willing to share it for free if this is what the artist prefer.

I want to point out that I'm very serious with this project and I
will work with it a lot if this becomes reality. Therefore I seek
someone equally serious and dedicated.
So are there anyone out there who finds this interesting? If you
do just tell me and we'll have an discussion about it.

Here's a couple things you should know. Most artists on this site, on any site, are looking for the way of the bank. This is not a bad thing, it's just how freelancers have to be since creating comics is often a game of desperation. They need the money for the day to day and often if they have personal projects even that they keep small so that they can maximize their earning potential. Comic artists aren't in this business to get rich for sure, but they need to make their rent and time really is money. All in all, being a starving artist isn't pretty. Thus going into a project saying "I don't want to make money" is kinda a bad idea given that you seem to be going into this with the idea of making a graphic novel or a series.

Here's what may work out best for you, ditch the idea of a long form. Write whatever you want to write, but keep it short like 8-12 pages or even 4-6 pages. Artists willing to do a free project will be FAR more open to work on a project if it's at that length and at the same time you can hone your skills with zero pressure. To maximize the potential you can also make the script double as a project pitch to send off to publishers.

Also, we know next to nothing about your project from what you've given us. We need some of your writing samples and we need you to pitch this project to us here in the forum. An artist will not want to go into this blind. If you want to maximize your appeal write a "bible" as I call it with all your characters, perhaps a beginning of an outline, all your concepts. If you're feeling nervous simply put a summary on this site, but you still need to pitch it and honestly with a comic stealing concepts doesn't a comic make, the meat of the project will always be the writer piecing everything together.

Come to an artist with all the cards on the table, especially if you're already as skilled as you claim, will make things easier for you. Do remember though that to create a fully colored and lettered comic page can take 8 hours straight or longer, just imagine how long it'd take even for 8-12 pages. This is a lot of effort on the artist's corner and you have to convince him or her to take that risk with you. If you do, you're golden.

Best of luck,
Ruyei
