Before you read any more, I just wish to inform you that this project doesn't have any money up front. It is commission based, but I am willing to split the profit 60% for you and 40% for me. I have been writing short stories for myself to enjoy for about the last six years, so I am no professional, but I'm not an amateur either. The story I am currently working on is called 'Light'. Its about a 10 year old girl that is in the middle of a modern time apocalyptic world, taken over by demon dogs. Her family was killed right in front of her, leaving her depressed with no where else to go. Until the day a creature from space came down to save her. The bright light emitting from his body would scare the beasts away as he looked after the little girl while trying to fix the mess of a hand that the two of them were dealt. The story is a new take on the zombie apocalypse genre, but without zombies. Instead, a dark force has invaded Earth's atmosphere and the more the humans would breathe in, the more sad, angry, or depressed they would feel, and once they reached the point of giving up, their bodies would be taken over by the poison they had been breathing in and they would turn into the demon dogs that slowly start to take over Earth's land. I plan on it being about 6-10 issues long and I would like to put it on sites for free and get ad revenue from it with the possibility of a physical version being sold at a later date. Not a bad plot for an action manga but, sorry to say Zwol isn't the best place to find manga artists of any kind (we focus on American stuff mostly here). Check out other forums like Smackjeeves and Mangaraiders.

As for "I'm not an amateur" trust me, as someone who has crossed the divide from prose to comics myself they are ENTIRELY different mediums. You may not be starting at square one but you have a lot to learn both on collaborating with an artistic partner and working in a visual medium.

Not that you should give up! Just recognize that you're just starting out and when you look, focus on working for practice rather than professionally at first. Also, that long manga epic you want to write? Shelve it for now, no hobbyist artist just off the bat is going to want to draw a long multi-chapter epic with someone new to the craft. What you CAN do is create a short. Make it 4-5 pages long (or 8-12 if you're feeling lucky) and it can represent a window into your big world if you want to do that. But make it self-contained so it can look good in your portfolio and that of your artist. Also it can definitely help to write multiple shorts. Make a variety of them so that when you get an artist he or she has a lot to choose from, or if you are successful with finding someone you can search for another one for your short.
