He is, and he'll kick your ass if you say otherwise.Rip wrote:Gee, and I always thought Scott was a pacifist.

Hey, hey! Maybe yer ugly mug needs some reinventing, but my purdee puss is just fine the way The Good Lord made it.
No need to worry. We all know that the REAL Scott McCloud uses super-sized robotic gorillas to do his fighting for him.

Aha! I knew I remembered this thread's existence!
Anyway, I figured this was the perfect place to mention another appearance for Fightin' Action Hero McCloud, in the bottom panel of today's episode of Fans!.
The setup, for those who don't read Fans!, is that thanks to some untimely meddling with a magical artifact of immense power, the world is being overwhelmed by imaginary entities from comics, science fiction, and fantasy. Some of the Fans have just defeated a group of their own RPG characters, for instance, while others went to a government-controlled looney bin to talk to a Mad Scientist who might have some answers.
In the meantime, a convention panel has just had its program rudely interrupted: The old guy is Arlen Staranka, a roman à clef version of Harlan Ellison, who is being attacked by a robot from his version of the I, Robot screenplay; the lady with a cane is Clara Strudenberry, this universe's rough equivalent of Gene Roddenberry's widow, Majel; and the guy hiding under the tablecloth is Hirohito Moko, a roman à clef version of some well-known male shuojo manga creator whose name escapes me.
As for Our Action Hero, he's appeared in Fans! before, in what may just be my favorite crossover sequence ever.

Don't tell that to Frank Jacobs and Al Jaffe. During my misspent youth, one of the favorite books on my shelf was Sing Along With MAD. The highlights were "My Fair Lester" and the mob musical "The Sound of Murder".RyanE wrote:Ok, so a comic may not be the best format to write a musical.
Heh. Yeah, I was raised on all those Frank Jacobs musical comics in MAD. I have a pavlovian response whenever I see a song in a comic. I expect to see an asterix next to the first line leading to a footnote saying "Sung to the tune of..." followed by the name of some old song; usually a show-tune.RyanE wrote:Sung to the tune of.... geez, I dunno.
