Oh my goodness!
I didn't even notice until you said so, but take a closer look. It's the exact same person, just horizontally flipped, and a cane stuck in his hand. Not only is the monocle on the wrong side now, but his lapel folds the exact same way, both ties are curved the same way, and his knee is bent the same way, all just backwards. Scott cheated!!

Okay, seriously, these panels have been a little glacial, in part cause I'm travelling so much and I'd like not to have to skip anymore days than necessary, so I'm trying to build up a a backlog to tide me over. Ordinarily, you'd probably see at least a couple of panels on most days, but I'll be gone 8 out of the next 17 days, and in Korea especially, I have no idea how often I'll be able to work on each.
Lord have mercy on my walrus-ingnoring soul.

I have a new theory:
Bernice, the unseen receptionist is (wait for it...) also a walrus! In fact, our mild-mannered and unnnoticed protagonist is patiently waiting for his lady-friend Bernice to get off work, so he can take her out for a romantic evening's fishing (or whatever walruses do on dates). See, we all noticed the walrus in the waiting room, but no one, including us, has noticed Bernice...
Well, it made sense to me.

The difference is, unlike the monocle, and a few name changes, nobody ever noticed the change in buttons - until just now. Scott only seems to correct these mistakes when someone points them out.Greg Stephens wrote:It's magic. Just like the Walrus' vest's buttons, which are backwards in the title panel, correct when he first walks through the door, then backwards again for the rest of the strip.
Personally, I'm disapointed that Scott corrected some of these mistakes (like the shifting monocle) instead of just leaving them there for posterity.
It's kind of like watching an epsiode of Star Trek and seeing Kirk's badge, or hair part, on the wrong side, because of a flipped negative (happens in a few episodes). I'd hate to see them correct these little flubs when re-mastering to DVD, because I grew up with them.

just a weird thought, in the latest panel we're told that the place the walrus is at is called 'Redmond, Fenwick and Dunbar.' we can guess that Dunbar is 'Mr. D' the nicely dressed man to appear in the latest frames could possibly be another owner on his way to a business meeting. (i.e. the skinny guy might be 'Fenwick' or 'Redmond') -what if our nicely dressed walrus friend is actaully the 3rd partner? you know- the quiet, big money investor from overseas that no one has ever met? i know this theory is pretty far out there- but it would be funny. -he just decided to come in and quietly wait to see how he would be treated by the staff... then just walks into the meeting and takes over. wild theories...lol

I like that theory!!! It's pretty good, but if it's true why does the walrus straighten his tie when mr. d shows up? Of course he could just be nervous, or be checking to make sure his tie doesn't change color.Josiah Rowe wrote:I have a new theory:

No, even worse! He doesn't have a gun, he has a burnt crossaint!Hey Walrus!!! Quick tackle that guy he has a gun! DOn't worry he won't notice you.
Okay. That requires minimal explanation. I attempted a mutation of 24hr comics: 3 hours, 10 pages. I screwed it up, though. Gave up before an hour passed. Ended up with a really stupid one-page comic. It broke the fourth wall and in the end the main charachter ends up suicidal. The gun he's holding, however, as he notices, looks more like a burnt croissant. That is sort of the ending gag.

That guy looked like a Fenwick if ever I saw one.
It's sounding like this is an ad agency. We'll know for sure if we see everyone hitting the hard liquor stashed in their desks at 3pm...

I need to find a Star Trek DVD with extras of Shatner singing in Espranato or at a poetry slam or something. It'd be a gift for a certain someone whose had his fill of neckties, cologne, and even worse X-Mas cop-outs like the dreaded Safeway plastic "gift certificate."
What can I say ? Even before coming here, I knew lots of odd people.

I don't know if there's any clips of the Shat-man singing in Esperanto, but there's a few CD's of him "singing" in English. I used to have a copy of The Transformed Man, which features Kirkesqe renditions of "Lucy In The Sky..." and "Mr. Tamborine Man", as well as some literary recitals (Henry V, Cyrano, etc,), but I lent it to a regular neighborhood customer when I used tend bar on the Upper East Side, and she never did give it back to me. It was one of my all-time cheesey favorites.alsis37 wrote:I need to find a Star Trek DVD with extras of Shatner singing in Espranato or at a poetry slam or something.
I did catch some of Shatner's pre-Trek Esperanto flick, Incubus, on the Sci-Fi channel, about a month ago. Very strange.

My wife came home all giddy about 6 months ago. With much drama, she pulled an Incubus DVD from its bag.

Sheepdog services $50.00 min. But you can have this for free
Hey hey hey people! We're forgetting the walrus, Bernice, here! (Not that Star Trek & William Shatner don't deserve their own glory.)

Ok, so, not likely that a partner is in the habit of sitting in the waiting area. I guess he's not a Fenwick.
