I like the new layout. I've liked it all day, which is better than yesterday when I kept thinking, "How can I make this better?"

Logical disconnect:

If you're shaking like a leaf, should you eat another bag of M&Ms to make it stop? I tried it and it didn't work.

Comic Jams:

Frist there was the 52-pickup Jam (still kicking), then there was Spiderweb's Word-themed Jam (just getting underway- Participate!) and now Cat Garza's gone all crotchity and made up a jam of his own. Check out the Future of Webcomics Jam.

There! I promise- the last major change to the index page design for a while. Now that I've got something that I like and that is sufficiently Zwollish, I can work on the other pages.

And not only Dudley, but Milton Berle passed away and Lyle Lovett suffered a broken leg when he was trampled by a bull! I didn't need any outside proof that it was a bad day all around, but this sortof kindof helps me understand why I was so down.

And then you hear that Dudley Moore has died and after that the day goes into a bit of a slump. Will "Arthur" be in at the video store? Probably not.

A "Spicy Italian" sandwich from Ralph's with salt & vinegar chips for lunch. Things get better as the day goes on...

Doritos for breakfast. Yum!

I want to buy music. I am not a pirate. I can afford to pay for what I use. But I won't buy it through the pre-Internet distribution system, or a hobbled Internet that's designed to behave like the old system. Also, once I've paid for the music, I want to use it on any device I want to. And if I like a song I want to play it for people I care about so they can learn about me, and also be inspired by the music. And since he [Michael Eisner, CEO of Disney] raised the subject of slavery, I insist that some of the money flow to the creative people.

More updating:

Decided to ditch HTML tables as a layout tool. They're gone on the index page and they'll shortly be gone everywhere else except the forum. They remain for the header and image navigation bars because I'm a design-nazi about that sort of thing, but they're going to vanish from all other inappropriate places. This means that people using Netscape 4.7 and other older browsers will see a different- less pleasing- layout for the index page below the comic. Since CSS-complient browsers have been around for at least 3 years, I don't feel bad about making this design switch.

It's late, I've got to get up in the morning, and I've spent way too much time on this project tonight as it is.

Small Update:

Posted at 01:03 Permalink

To the entire site. Header area's different all over now. The index page layout's a little different. Text is a little small in Mozilla/Netscape 6, but I'll work out a good solution to that soon enough. I really can't come up with a really killer design for this page without loading it up with images, which I don't want to do. Switching over to CSS is the first step in helping me to do some really nice stuff.

And then there's the matter of that pesky comic thingy... Hm. Well, there's always April, isn't there? Maybe something then.

Modern Tales:

Now's a good time to subscribe to Modern Tales before the price goes up after launch. Lots of A-1 comic artists are onboard and it should be good!

Hey- there haven't been any Zwol updates in a while, but check out the action in the forum- We've got a good comic jam going on based on the concept of a deck of cards- follow this link...

This is not an update:

In the first new image to grace Zwol in- gosh- quite some time, Jason Alderman, one of my favorite comic artists, reminds me of something that he's afraid may have slipped my mind...
