Hi all. First time posting. Just wanted to know if anyone has checked out Deep Creek. It's soap/web comic that I just read about in a Newsweek article from the summer. (Oh, the things you'll read when stuck at the dentist office!)

I've really gotten addicted to it. Anyone else? The article claims it's been wildly popular. http://www.oxygen.com/deepcreek

The plot really isn't my cuppa tea.

The art is nice in a "Mary Worth" style, but I got a little bored with black silhouettes on mono colour vector backgrounds.

I had never heard of it before you posted.

"Wildly popular" is a rather vague measure, but I'd expect the Newsweek article to have mentioned some sort of reader count, depending on how long of an article it was.

The art is OK, I think- better than Mary Worth, but not as good as Rex Morgan, M.D. (which I don't actually read, but do look at because it's drawn quite well these days)- and the use of vecor art isn't a real turn-off for me. Actually, the emphasis of shape over line (here and here) reminds me quite a bit of Frank Miller's Sin City (here and especially here).

At any rate, I see this as an example of Scott's assertation that on the web, comics of all sorts of genres can find their audience.
