Hi guys. been looking all over, but I don't seem to be able to find it.
A database with the 'symbols' used in comics listed and explained.
ie., facial expressions, but also wavery lines for smell, depiction of speed, etc.

does anyone know if something like this excists, and where it can be found?

I went looking for about 45 minutes and turned up nothing. Such a resource would be an interesting and useful one, both for aspiring cartoonists and novice readers who are having trouble making sense of a comic they read.

In the course of searching, I did find something else that was rather refreshing: literally dozens of course descriptions and educations supplements for high school and college classes involving comics.

That seems to be the main theme with just about every aspect of the world of quality comics...
