Hey,
I'm a freelance illustrator/designer who has been into comics for as long as I can remember (in fact that's probably why I ended up working as an artist), but I've never made a serious attempt at illustrating a comic story... For the most part because writing is far from my strong point, and without a story to drive things, I guess I always felt a bit lost.
So, that brings me to here... I'm looking for a writer to throw some ideas my way with an eye to collaborating on a first project. I could talk about artistic influences forever, but the best thing is probably to check out my website where you can find examples of my work... the best place to start is probably here - http://www.diecastdesign.com/new_site/home.htm
As stuff I like; at the moment I'm very much into DMZ, 100 Bullets and Fell... All time favourites would have to include Preacher, Hellboy, V For Vendetta and pretty much anything by Dave McKean.
If anyone is interested, then feel free to reply to me here, or email at matt@diecastdesign.com
Thanks for your time folks,
Matt G

Hi, checked out your website and I really like your style. Do you have any samples of more sequential/comic type work? I'm working on a short script right now (in addition to the many long ones that I've been dragging out for years). Just started last night and expect to finish tonigth after the kids go to sleep. Maybe 5-6 pages. No definite plans for it yet, but I'd like to try submitting it somewhere. If you're interested, contact me at zeroice013@cox.net

Hey zeroice thanks for your reply.
I don't really have any sequential examples I'm happy with at the moment, as it's been a long time since I attempted any, and my artwork has improved quite a bit since then, and now I want to try that kind of thing again, I feel like I need a narrative to drive the artwork forward.
I want to start trying to apply my style to more sequential stuff, which I know will mean adapting it somewhat, heading more to the traditional comicbook elements... But I definitely envisage keeping the photomontage/organic elements in there as well.
I appreciate that if you're wanting to move forward with work, collaborating with someone who is experimenting/finding there way may not be ideal, but I have a pretty good work ethic and skill set as an artist, so while things might take a few attempts, hopefully I wouldn't be dragging my heels to much.
Anyway, I'd be into checking out your script if you're still interested.
Thanks again,
Matt

Finished the script last night, took an extra day. After going through your portfolio I ended up stretching it out 2 pages longer than I originally planned. I think your style would really benefit from having more space to work in instead of being cramped in smaller panels. I'm at work right now, I'll send it when I get home, just wanted to let you know that I'm still interested.
