Well, I absolutely would NOT collaborate via web cam. No, I don't care if people know what I look like...my mug is on my Facebook account, after all. But if it's only after 7pm Pacific and has to be done out loud, then that does become a problem...because that's only an hour before my husband goes to bed and the wall between the bedroom and the living room isn't very thick.
Although, Kevin, I would say it's not 'laughable' to want to do things in real time. I do know quite a few people who collaborate best in real time, and asking for conditions that allow you to do your best work is not ridiculous at all. I would prefer to do a mix of the two, and would prefer to use AIM for communication because that doesn't disturb the husband if he's home, awake or asleep. Not that I would mind doing some phone calls to settle details on a project, and even possibly the occasional video call through Skype or something.
How does watching each other through a webcam prevent mistakes? It does make sure they do your project and nothing else, which seems to be more of your goal than actually getting things done.

Jenna, do you know how to activate the video chat feature on facebook? we dont have to do it via Yahoo, if the facebook site will allow video collaboration. to clarify, you won't need a cam, only I will be using one, to allow observance of my progress.
IF we could get anything started, EXACTLY when would be a good time schedule for you? i do work, but very sporadically, unfortunately. That being the case, it affords me plenty of nonactive hours, so i do have a pretty generous time window, to set a schedule.
However, if you really feel that strongly about video collaboration, then i won't press the issue with you, and i will respect your final reply, whether yea or nay.

Oh...I thought you meant two-way. However, it's making *noise* late at night that's the issue, when I live in an apartment with thin walls. Even if I didn't have a husband to worry about disturbing, I have neighbors to worry about disturbing. I could only do it during the day my time, and I'm still, frankly, a little wary of you and the ideas about married people you are publicly propagating.
Basically, I am opposed to any kind of prejudice or discrimination based on factors other than a person's talent. By stating that people who are married are unreliable, you are acting in a manner that I consider discriminatory.
Also, I am very uncomfortable with doing a set work schedule and monitoring every stroke of an artist's pen for legal reasons: it could be construed as an employer-employee relationship.

First of all, I DO have a business license...it's essential in my county to receive any money at all from anything that is not formal employment. Therefore, collaborations need to be kept strictly on an 'independent contractor' basis. Which your means of working is dangerously close to not being. Besides, I'd much rather give the artist my character descriptions and say 'Okay. Use your imagination' than watch him over his shoulder
