AquaComics | Colorist Needed [Samples!]

What is this all about? Well, it's partly in my name. Aqua Comics is the publishing group I've created to publish my own creation, which I won't even name here. To find out about it, you'll need to get in touch with me ASAP, and here's how.

I only need one or two artists, I may take on more if required for effect in future storylines. For now, one or two is fine, and here's what I want you to do- do a drawing, simple. Draw a super-hero, someone iconic. You can make it more challenging. If you're able to scan your drawing, stick it on my thread here and I'll look into it. I need as many 'try-outs' as I can get, even those who don't professionally or occasionally draw can take part in this, the more the merrier, plus I love making hard choices.

Other people I desperately need are inkers, colorists and other jobs that people can partake in order to publish the comic. I won't need to go too far into that- there's likely people here who could do pencilling, inking AND colorising? Anyway, if you're interested, contact me ASAP, you can send me a preview of your own work through PM rather than here.

And lastly, every good comic needs some fans. Anyone willing to support this process and/or help out with recruitment in any way is welcome to my world. A website for my publishing title is currently being made, should be finished by the end of next week.

I'd like to also note that if you're going to ask me to pay you, you're going to have to wait. No good collaborative team of writers and artists worked by paying each other, before they'd even successfully published the comic. If the comic is to be published, and is sold online or in person, then we can talk pay, of which I would give you a very well deserved amount as I'm less in it for the money, I'm more interested in the creativity and enjoyment of creating a new super-hero/super-villain universe.

I need pencillers and colorists who can trust me, and trust AquaComics, to never give it up and make sure it hits the download sites, the shops, as far as it can get. That way, they'll find themselves with some good money. However, if they're not fussed about the money at all, even better. I'd rather people had the patience to see the plot through and have the money roll in afterwards.

I normally leave that particular style of work like that as I quite like working in black and white, ..but yes, I can colour too. Just to give you an example here is the forest image you saw earlier (obviously not finished!!)


But for the more graphic novel approach I would normally use this technique (I kept the colour count relatively low on these particular images for printing reasons)

Yeah that's not true at all. Jesus what an overstatement. You can't expect real talent to work for free. No self-respecting artist works for free. Work for pennies, tablescraps maybe. But not free. I've been a freelance artist for three years working with authors who scrape together every dollar they have to pay for an artist to make their book. That or the find a financier or investor. Hell, even Kickstarter.com raised over a million dollars last year for independent comic creators.

I wish you all the luck in your project, but don't try to fool the good people of ZWOL into thinking EVERYONE starts off working for free. Or nothing good came out of someone paying for an artist. That's just ridiculous.

For your information I have a brilliant penciller working for free, so your statement is invalid.

And to add, I wasn't implying everyone did, we're not all good on money, so we have to work around it. You may have also suspected I was implying artists who want money care more about it than the art itself, which I wasn't, but that's probably what set you off.
