ARTISTS WANTED for Dark Fantasy Comic Book (paid)

Post by Codywriter »

I am looking for a comic book artist/artists who is/are willing to partner with me on a graphic novel I've written (12 issues at roughly 22 pages an issue). Someone who lives in the LOS ANGELES area is preferred. Furthermore, it would be wonderful if you could pencil, ink and color. If not, I'm willing to bring multiple people on board for the project if needed. Right now, I am focused on the first issue of the comic with the hope that the artist/artists will want to continue work on further issues. Any obligations would only cover the first issue.

PAYMENT IS TO BE DETERMINED once I find the right candidate who is passionate about the material.

More than anything I'm looking for prompt people that know how to respond to emails, and know what deadlines are.

That being said, I know drawing is much more difficult than writing and I have a lot of respect for this work. I have attached a story synopsis and further info below to let you know what kind of work I am looking for.

TITLE: Spectral

GENRE: Dark fantasy

LOGLINE: The story is a cross between the movie Ghost and the Hellboy comics.

BRIEF SYNOPSIS: Flip makes a living providing ghost tours to tourists in the historic town of San Sebastain, Florida. One day a wealthy aristocrat named Aleister comes to town seeking Flip and his wife, Diana. Aleister murders Flip and kidnaps Diana for a demonic ceremony. After his murder, Flip becomes a ghost himself and must now rely on his knowledge of local spirits in order to save his wife from Aleister’s possession.

LONG SYNOPSIS:

Flip works as a tour guide in the small historic city of San Sebastian, FL. He specializes in ghost tours since the town has a long and storied past involving supernatural phenomena. On the side, he does clay sculpture and dreams of becoming a well-known artist.

However, Flip lacks any drive or ambition to put his work out there. He’s afraid of failure but his wife, Diana, is not. She really believes in Flip’s artistic abilities and drags him out to a gallery opening where he meets the owner, a young aristocrat named Aleister. Aleister takes an unusual liking to Flip’s wife. It turns out Aleister is a demon in human form who has come to kidnap Diana. Before taking her, however, Aleister murders Flip.

Now dead, Flip enters the Spectral World, a place where ghosts, goblins, imps and all manner of spirits roam. This world is one based on energy. All spectral beings are made up of energy and need it to sustain their existence through things such as scaring the living or feeding off of batteries. If a ghost loses all his/her energy, he/she ceases to exist. This is called Obliteration or a “spirit’s death.”

As for contacting the living, Flip has but one choice, a local ghost tour guide/spirit medium named Dash. Dash tells Flip that Aleister plans to turn Diana into a demon as well before the end of the month. Thus, Flip sets out on a journey to find ghosts and spirits willing to help him fight against Aleister and save his wife from eternal doom, all while risking ghostly obliteration.

The story includes a colorful cast of spirits such as a poltergeist obsessed with physical objects, a former demon escaped from Hell, imps, wraiths, and all manner of strange paranormal occurrences.

Great pitch

This sounds like a very cool idea and you've definitely represented properly! Since even if a story is good artists are picky offering to pay is your best best and I am glad that you are taking that route. It is relatively expensive for someone on a low income scale but it's definitely worth it! You should find yourself with plenty of artists competing to work on your project.

Sincerely
