Artist Seeks Writer

Post by Perko »

I'm looking for a really good or clever or interesting or poetic writer to collaborate with on a new comic project. Story is superhero/military team in the future - but I don't want it to be a cliche of current marvel/dc stuff. There needs to be something else your writing brings to it. It doesn't even need to be conventional stories - I'm pretty open minded. You must be older than 30 and have written something before, not necessarily a comic book, but something you can send me. My art is not manga and not super naturalistic/realistic - it's more like Mike Mignola and Frank Miller. Final product will probably be a webcomic posted on a free blog site, but I'd hope to submit it to some publishers too. Email me: jp80008000@yahoo.com

Open minded?

I remember seeing a post for a collaborator (This was for a videogame) where the collaborating requirement was for the person to be female. Same thing here, restricting on age is a little unfair. However considering that there will be an onslaught of writers harkening to your request I can kinda see the reason People thirty and older tend to be more mature and accomplished then those who are younger. I must protest though that since this is a generality, you will probably find great writers under the age of thirty. What I recommend instead is for you to rely on your already existing requirement of having a writing sample. That will certainly be enough.

Sincerely,
Ruyei/Robert (Is under 30 by the way, though being that I have three comic projects to work on I'm taken haha. Still, I'm 23 and I get a lot of requests from artists wanting to work with me. Just something to keep in mind.)

You guys are right. If you're under 30 and have written a lot and developed their voice, please send me something. I apologize for excluding anyone.

Also - this is not a paid job. I'm not getting paid, you won't be getting paid. We do what we do, because it's what we love to do.

True that!

I agree haha, I certainly write because I like to write and not much more than that. I have hopes of being published someday, but in the end all I want to do is make quality work so I can see your viewpoint. You don't have to worry about writers charging though. Many of the folks here are pretty desperate for work, it's a rule of thumb that artists looking for artists will get a TON of responses. I remember another artist who posted here citing that she had no artistic samples and was an amateur. She got close to TEN responses before choosing a friend of mine as her writer. You certainly will be limited by not showing art samples in your post but I can guarantee you'll get a lot of takers. Very few writers dare to charge these days.

Good luck!
Sincerely,
Ruyei/Robert
