Artist seeking scripts for practice pieces and more...?

Post by the.kirishitan@gmail.com »

Artist seeking work to sharpen skills and have some pieces to show. Short stories, few page format would be ideal.

Been out of the illustration game for about 15 years, and would like some pages to draw to expand my range and sharpen my abilities. The submitted stories can be any genre or subject, your own characters, already created ones, whatever, this is merely for portfolio/practice. I can send you completed pages for your review, should you like to use them for anything, or consider me for future projects.

I am a hobbyist/amateur and do art in my free time, so I can't do tight deadlines, unless I am being compensated, and at which time, currently, I do not feel my end product is worth getting paid on.

So, if you have any scripts laying around, or want to see some of your writing drawn up, that'd be the bees knees. Member name is email, so yeah, that's my bad on that, and gonna get spam out the wazoo now. Awesome.

I do, however I don't have any uploaded to web. If you'd care to see some, just shoot me an email, and can provide some scans that I have.

I am currently working on a Batman script I found online, as well as just starting to get some responses back in ads that I've placed and answered. It seems I will be able to update and practice no problem!

Maybe I should post some stuff to a deviant account so I at least have some on an online presence somewhere...?

Also, dave.mccluskey@da....com your mailbox is either full or invalid, as I tried responding to your email, and it bounced, should you happen to see this post...

Hey, I have a comic idea in the works. It's set in Civil War era upstate South Carolina. It revolves around a man fighting for the Confederacy.

First scene: He's sitting around a campfire. He's in his mid 40s staring into the fire while the men around him are laughing after a victory. He just received a letter informing him that his daughter back home, age 10, just died. Unable to return home, he is torn between fighting a war he halfway believes in (now that battle has made him understand the horrors of war, he doesn't see where the necessity is for fighting against his fellow Americans), and returning to his grieving wife in upstate South Carolina. The story will be very character driven and revolve mainly around this Middle Aged man and his warring mind (dichotomy between warring outside and warring self). To add to this "warring self," maybe have his 20 year old son fighting for the Union.

I like the idea of having the art convey themes of internal conflict mirroring external conflict.
