In need of advice
Hi I recently just found this forum and I have been looking for people to ask this. I'm 19 years old and want to get in the comic industry as a writer but how exactly should I go about that? I have no artistic ability but seriously want to write. I am not asking for someone to do art for me I don't have the money, I would just like some advice. How exactly do I get started in the industry?
I actually have some of my own ideas I just don't know what to do with them. I really want to turn these into comic books but as someone who can't draw I'm in a jam. I don't have any experience to win people over with either I know I need an artist to get started but most won't give starting up ones like me a chance.

page rates vary wildly depending on the artist - I would advise trying to meet and build a relationship with artists before launching straight in to working together, particularly as you're new to writing comics. posting samples of your work and synopses on sites like these could help you find interested artists, as well as going to comic cons or other comics-related events in your area. Try and make friends with other people who make comics, whether artists or writers or both, as it's much easier to collaborate if you have a network of other people in similar positions - also I guarantee your writing will improve if you have interested people around to show it to.
But certainly to start with, write your ideas down! script them, get used to thinking visually - you may not be an artist but you need to learn to think in pictures if you're going to make good comics - and I can say from experience that artists are much more likely to be enthusiastic in wanting to work with you if you're enthusiastic in sharing your ideas and showing you can put them down on paper.
