Writer seeking a collaboration

Post by LennonSkywalker »

Hey, there, I am M.A. and I´m a writer looking for someone to bring my ideas to paper.

Right now I´m working on a series and I have the first two issues fully written I just need someone who is fast, responsable and can do both pencils and inks. I´m looking for someone with an art noir style, just like Sean Phillips on Criminal, Sleeper or Incognito.

The story is slightly inspired by TV Series Heroes and Breaking Bad and Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie films; all of this mixed with the classic Superhero genre.

My plan is send the story to publishers such as Image and Dark Horse, so this will be a non-paid gig until after we get published, after that I would have no problem at all dividing 50/50 the profits, of course taking from there the letterer and colorist share.

If you are interest and you think you are the right person for this, please send me samples of you art and your sequential work. My adress is lennon.skywalker94.19@gmail.com

advice

First off, check this out http://www.zwol.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7259. It's an advice forum for those who could benefit from seeing artists and experienced writer's opinions on how you should post. I'll sum up my thoughts...you are in an environment where there are far more writers than artists. You need to sell yourself and you also have to be open for an artist that may not be the style you want. The only way to get an artist at your beck and call is simply to pay one. Else you are playing roulette. Also your request for a good speed for the art is asking a lot. Because who's going to want to work on tight deadlines and not be paid for it? Some more info about your comic is also needed, check out the forum posts and tell us more about your story and sell yourself better. There's an artist out there for you certainly, but you're going to need to know how to properly search for him or her. And also realize that if you don't pay you're not going to get a professional most likely, either in quality or in speed. If you want something like that save up the money. It'll be worth it.

I am a writer who is working with an artist who is great for crime fiction. He has a very stark, shadowy style.

This is page 1 from the comic we are working on:

His name is Cristian Navarro. He may not work for free, but if he likes your idea i'm sure he will work for a very fair price if you ask him.

The rest of his portfolio is at http://cncomics.blogspot.com

I have found him very professional and very fast.
